Jonny is not signed up with Gannassi in any way. It's just a roll over from Mark williams trying to make the same impression about affiliation with ganassi, which was really a technical partnership through Team Integra. Scott Dixons father Ron has a pseudo management role with both mark and jonny and has borrowed a few old shirts from scotts wardrobe. Hence they look so big on both mark and jonny.

We have been manufacturing the new season's A1GP NZ team race suits and I still don't know who is driving! I still rate Jonny but there is a wealth of up and coming talent in NZ. Van der Drift has to be in the frame too. Jonny has admitted making mistakes 2007/2008, but it is a rare driver who doesn't make mistakes. Even Schumacher wasn't perfect. Jackie Stewart seemed to keep the wheels on, but things in those days weren't as close as A1.

I saw the youtube video from Mid Ohio. Absolutely staggering. From what I read in the motorsport press in NZ, his A1 ride may be in doubt.

His A1 ride isn't in doubt because of Mid Ohio. Let's face it, times are changing. Johnny is still keen on A1, but GP2 or Indycars are where he sees his future, both financially and competitively.
Colin wouldn't just drop his golden boy after a bad race... |

He's been a huge part of the A1GP effort in New Zealand and I would be very surprised to see him actually lose the seat, despite the circulating rumors. |

For anyone that hasn't noticed, Chris van der Drift has now started racing under the New Zealand flag in Formula Master, and not the Dutch flag as he used to.
Expect to see him in the A1 car alot this year... |

Van der Drift will probably be the number one driver and Jonny will also be on hand, as he has experience of the old car for comparision purposes. Jonny admits he made a few mistakes, and Colin Giltrap probably feels that he's had a fair crack and time to point someone else towards the ultimate F1 goal.
NZ has a wealth of young talent these days, and there are many ex racers ecouraging their off spring through karting at the moment. |
