Well he's had a long career, so it's time for him to try something new. Let's see who comes in now

Dissapointed with the news, because it's a shame to see him leave.
But unfortunately he lost something after the regulation change to TC1 machinery |

Muller had an extremely long and succesful career in BTCC and WTCC. He's 47 yeard old, it's time to enjoy time with his family.

It was expected but still great to see Honda commit for one more year. Strange they haven't announced their drivers yet.
I would also like to see a new manufacturer. Ribeiro said something at the beginning of the year that a new manufacturer is developing a car but it was awfuly quiet and seems that it won't happen. As for Citroens in 2017, it really depends on who will drive - if they will be driven by people like Demoustier - no chance to fight for the title. Although it will probably still going to be the best car out there. |

With a good driver and less ballast during the season, Citroen could win another title despite a non-factory entry. But the fact is that if this happens, for the WTCC would be very very bad.

It's happened before, so it wouldn't be that bad.

Coronel fighting for the championship in a privateer Citroen wouldn't be bad at all

No he'd no longer just be a people's champion if he pulled it off

If a manufacturer gets beaten by a privateer he's doing something wrong, its that simple.

The Citroen still continues too develop their cars, and the SLR is not just a private team, it is very close to the PSA (like Ten Kate to the Honda or the ABT to the Audi).

Possibly because the new Civic will be sold from early next year. They won't want to continue with the current car beyond next season, so there'll have to be another big investment for 2018 if they want to stay. That decision probably depends on the performance of JAS next year and the competition for the future.

Agree that it's probably the last season for the current Civic, so there are questions whether Honda continues on 2018 and beyond. I hope they will, and they bring a car with another shape |

Recent rumours about ETCC 2017 also indeicate that Hungaroring, Slovakia Ring, Nurburgring and Vila Real should stay on WTCC 2017 calendar as well. (BTW, ETCC is about to be renamed into the European Touring Car Championship). I wonder what is going to happen to France and Paul Ricard now with Citroen leaving. |

According to Autosport Japan, next year will be the last for WTCC which will be replaced by a new championship in 2018 with DTM/SuperGT regulations. Just hope this will remain just a crazy rumour. These cars are not touringcars, they are GTs. |

Can't see this happening, the DTM has decided to postpone the new engines until 2019 and usually they stick with these kind of decisions. If anything, they'd delay it even further.
Maybe they could sort out the calendars between DTM and SuperGT for 2019 so that the manufacturers can cross-enter cars in some DTM and SuperGT events that count as a separate world championship. |

If dtm and super gt should switch into one single catefory wtcc could and should make the same with tcr.
At the moment wtcc barely survive so if justa one of actual manufacturer should leave then i guess it would be the end. |

So many years of talking between DTM and SuperGT. I don't see it happen anymore.
And a full 10 round or so WTCC means the end of DTM and SuperGT. So no I don't believe in it. |
