The test was done at Williams' request, not Asmer's, so obviously it benefits them in some way. He was said to have been doing aerodynamic work on the wings.
Huysman's idea is to get him to try out as many different types of car in as short a time frame as possible, hence the outing in Renault V6, but the aim for 2004 is still F3. |

18 eh? so who is the youngest to test an F1 car? Rosberg? Didnt that Mansell lad race an old F1 car? or does that not count cos it aint current? Actually I think Eddie Cheever tested a Ferrari at 17 back in the mid-70s.

Is that the Richard Dean who was originalyl supposed to be in the BTCC with TSMR's Lexus last year?
In any case, i think this test was largely done as a favour, rather than because Marko is neccessarily seen as an F1 driver in the near future |

I say good luck to him! Williams can (and frequently do) choose who the heck they like. I bet he's not expensive!

Yes. He's been running a FFord team for a while and still does a bit of GT racing himself. |

Well, Marko won both his Formula Ford races at Croft at the weekend. Both were lights to flag victories with fastest lap thrown in as well. All in all I think it was a pretty good week for young Mr Asmer.

Well Marko Asmer might not have set the Fford series alight this year but he has got on with learning his craft and has always been fast in testing and is getting quicker. To top it all he gets pole at Croft and wins both races. Not bad for your first year in cars and we are only just over half way through the season. As for there being more deserving cases for an f1 test drive, well it might be true, but Asmer is doing better than many of drivers in Fford that have loads more experience and are also driving for top teams.
