Well, I'm trying hard to make a transformation into racing without starting a team. I'm finally, after 4yrs, starting to get paid a little something for my effort, but as you know it's nothing in comparison to my daily pay. To sum it up a weekend of 12hr+ days, 3 avg, is equivalent to a normal day pay of 9hrs. Therefore losing double of what I make for weekend OT at work.

Conclusion: Blood, Sweat and Tears and a very understanding wife is how I plan on getting out! Maybe within the next couple of years, who knows!

Tim ..... you dont really want to get involved in Aircraft Maintenance ..... If I could I would be headed straight for sportscar racing mechanic ..... Back in the 80's I suppose I could have gotten a job building chassis , sheetmetal is my trade . Now its all composites and I dont really like working with composites cuz they are irritating and you cant NDT (non-destructive test) carbon fibre . Just gate the stuff but it does make some amazing chassis . Just take a look at some old racecars that pioneered carbon fibre and they are as rough as a bears arse , look at them now ..... smooth as glass .

However if you like , look up the (FAA) Federal Aviation Administration site and take a look at the exam papers , all you need is some documented experiance and then take the exam and there ya go mate , your in the club !!! What do you work at ..... I bet its something to do with a PC cuz your always online

Sorry ..... off subject
