106 days till race day.
Did a checkout run of the motorhome for two days just to make sure all the systems are working. Everything is OK! |

Odd idea, but for those of us newcomers, would anyone be interested in putting together a Discord channel for the event to plan/organize any kind of meet up, social gathering? I always prep a ton of food on raceday and have plenty to share. Just though it might be an easier way to keep in touch with the group once we're all at the track.

Not sure anyone else on this forum is really interested in a group gathering. Too bad since I wouldn't mind meeting some of them.

Yep, I log in every day just to see the count down. I know it a little weird, but it keeps me on track (no pun intended) for what needs to be done next.

Even with starting early, I always forget something. Gives me a reason to go to the Ingles after I get set up.

Hello All,
Complete noob to the forum here, but a lot of the info in this thread and the one from last year has been helpful, so thanks for all the posts! My son and I have been to the 24 Hours of Sebring a couple of times over the past few years (paid the extra $$ for Hendricks Field), but this year will be our first time taking in the Petit Le Mans, and I'm working on what camping gear to bring. I have already purchased tickets and NR Tent Camping, and I remember seeing that the camping spaces are 18ft x 18ft. Does our vehicle have to fit within that space as well? Also, will there be any water supply anywhere for washing stuff off (like dishes & utensils)? Thanks in advance! |

Not really any dedicated water supply lines I can think of or heard people mention, there is a tap in the T3/4 comfort station but it is from the shower line. I think it is still there but they redid the bathrooms recently so not positive. Road Atlanta is more of open space they let you crash on than any kind of campground. |

Lots to think about when it comes to preparing for the Petit. Weather wise, I'd prepare for anything from high 80's and sunny to close to freezing and rainy. Pretty much seen it all in one week.
Not sure about the 18' x 18' area including your vehicle so that may be something to check on with Road Atlanta. My guess is that your vehicle can be outside those limits. There are a bunch of parking lots available that are not far from camping areas. There is water available but only at the bath houses. Be prepared to haul water to where you need it. Get there as early as possible on Wednesday (or even Tues night) as NR camping goes quickly. Take a look at the track layout and have an area picked out. Have an alternate just in case it's all filled up. Most of the people waiting in line will be NR RV which are in different areas. Let us know where you plan to camp and what you plan to take and I'm sure one of us can tell you if it's going to work or not. Welcome to the 10 hours of the Petit. |

I tent camp. There's no regulation whatsoever. As others said everything fills up pretty fast, if you want a spot you can see the track from you'll have to get there Wednesday. I set up by the bathrooms at turn 5 and it's been my regular spot for a few years now. I'm trying to get a meetup planned, if you want I got a PLM fans page on the Facebook, feel free to join along.

Here's a good map of the track layout and camping designated areas for the Petit:
Road Atlanta Track Map Scroll down and look at the "Motul Petit Le Mans Map". It will show non-reserved and reserved camping spot locations along with amenities locations like bathrooms and food service. The reserved areas are marked as a black rectangle with numbers inside. Many of the non-reserved areas are near the reserved but not directly trackside. Track visibility throughout Road Atlanta is usually very good. Lots of great places to view the action. When you arrive at the track, you'll see the reserved spots clearly marked with their corresponding area numbers. Last edited by JT240Z; 2 Aug 2024 at 19:45. |

Wednesday evening for me. I'll leave as early as I can in the morning and traffic in ATL is always the deciding factor on my arrival time. I am also non reserved tent camping but lucky to have some friends to save a general area for me.

Don't lie, you have the rare reserved tent camping option. Only costs you having to deal with an ass and some Georgians, and hosting The Reading of the Lines on Thursday, or Friday depending on the games

Anyone hosting a Burbon tasting this year? I have a bottle of something special to bring. Missed out last year due to my shyness.

Can you give me a better idea of where you plan to camp? Tried to find you last year but never could. Are you thinking of being closer to turn 3/4 or at the bathroom near turn 5?

Thanks to all for the info and recommendations! I wish we could be there sooner, but early Thursday afternoon is probably going to be the earliest we can get there. We plan to have the SUV, a 9x13 tent and a 10x10 canopy. Definitely not too concerned about having a track-side campsite.
It sounds like we can have the vehicle by the campsite if get there early enough and there's still room, but if we don't get there early enough then space will be very limited and we might have to settle for camping in the woods and parking the vehicle in a parking lot. Is that correct? Just a few more questions... Do all of the restrooms shown on the map have showers? If not, which ones do? Is there ice for sale on-site in case we run out? Any recommendations on which NR Tent camping areas might still have decent (or any) space left on Thur afternoon? Thanks again in advance! |
