Phillip Island is by no means certain for November. Cochran has even stated this. There are three bids currently of which PI is one.

As far as TC bringing us "stale racing" etc, be careful here for AVESCO manages, markets and promotes V8 Supercar racing, it doesn't make the rules.

That is the job of CAMS and TEGA.

Check out the herald sun story It gets better by the day. Says that the China replacement is between Phillip Island, Perth (doesn't say if thats Waneroo or a street race and Baskerville in Tassie. How out of date is Baskerville for the V8s. Hope Phillip Island puts the highest bid in..

Hi All

On the news here in NZ tonight, they said the round would not be coming to NZ, and that Phillip Island seemed to be the track of choice in Australia.

A spanner in the works for an Australian replacement.World Rally Championship that weekend in Perth= pressure from CAMS and C10 to use the opprtunity to change dates. Or stay offshore.

Offshore == Tasmania

Does Baskerville still have a "set of stairs" on the main straight that tends to upset race cars traveling over the top of them?

Simon: You mean you want to do 1000 kilometres around the Mountain with no driver change?

You brave sod!

TC was saying for ages that China 'will happen' in 2004. Why will it be any different next year?

Brock and Moffat won Bathurst by themselves when it was 800kms in the so-called 'less professional' days. What is another 200kms nowadays?

When do they actually run 1000 km at Bathurst these days anyway?

Byt back to the topic.... Perth to replace China? I doubt it... they tried a couple of years ago to get up a street race here, and the Govt. canned it big time.... same Govt. still, so no change there. I can't really see them running 2 rounds at Barbagallo (no matter how much i'd like them to be here twice...lol).

Pete, a well-known PR man asked this exact question of TC at the press conference the other day.

TC's response was that if Bathurst didn't go ahead, TC would put that PR man up in his house for the entire Bathurst week and put on a dress and serve him cocktails.

So I think we can take it as read that Bathurst will run in some shape or form.

Tragic as it would be to lose Bathurst, how good would it be to see the aforementioned scenario play out!

aaahhhh, he definately has a way with words, the Black Wiggle.
Just wondering if Townsville has re-entered the frame, they were all but a certainty two years ago, then nothing?

How bout Newcastle? I thought that was rumoured a while ago. Canberra? Phillip Island is great as long as the weather holds out, dont want another red flag.

Mallala would be good Simon, shame it won't happen though.
Putting temp pits up would be the best option, but as you would know there are other reasons behind the scenes.

I'm still praying for Homebush. The infrastructure is there, and it's not like a race would disrupt anything....

Mallala would be good, at least for attracting crowds. The State loves the Sport, just unfortunately a second round here wont happen. Bring back the old Adelaide GP track...

No turn 8. Some of the guys do seem to have concrete magnets in their cars though.

There is the rumours, and I have asked. They would like the extra space for corporate facilities I gather, but still wont let on.
