[QUOTE=carbon_titanium;3638235]well... why rebellion should switch for new cars after 2017?
reliability issues have been so far their only serious rivals in grid... Because unless the FIA/ACO allowed the current Privateer cars, ie: Rebellion & Kolles to be grandfathered in for 2018, the monocques alone, will not comply to the proposed P1 2018 regs. I also doub that any of the currect cars can be "updated" to the 2018 requirements, they seem to be not adaptable. So based on this simple fact of life = no grandfather clause = new chassis. |

There's no ruleset yet. In the interview with Strakka, they said the teams want to keep the current monocoque's for the updated rules.

Compared to Perrin and Brabham (whose projects have gone ghost) Welter Racing has some progression going.
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/leman...ntry-revealed/ Granted it's Garage 56, nonetheless, it's encouraging On a side note. I wonder if the engine is related to the Nissan DIG-T used in the ZEOD |

http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/w...-car-for-2014/ Dejardin also confirmed that the chassis will be used for a future Garage 56 entry, with an announcement on that program expected shortly. WR was the designer of the GreenGT H2, the hydrogen-electric powered prototype that withdrew from this year’s race. |

How far the MSR and Patron Ligier HPD from IMSA would be from the current Private LMP1? With the 3.5 HPD and ditching the spec continentals.

Supposedly there is going to be some announcement during Le Mans. Common sense would say that the ACO need to be a little bit practical if they want other than maybe only 4 LMP1 cars on the grid in 2018 though. I do not seem to recall that practical common sense has ever been one of the ACO better qualities. |

Specifically the one weakness in the current cars from a safety standpoint is that the seating position of the drivers makes them susceptible to back injuries in relatively tame impacts, so the 2018 monocoques are supposed to enforce a safer (presumably more upright) one.
Possibly some of the current/future customer chassis can solve that particular problem as is, either way they would prefer not to have to go through the expense of crash testing and homologation again. |

There was talk of a more central seating position for new lmp1's. As long as they don't make the roof higher or wider cockpits AGAIN, I look forward to seeing what they come up with.

How many private LMP1s do you think there will be in 2018?
According to the programs announced these could be: *ByKolles *BR/ SMP/ Dallara *ESM-Nissan *Ginetta (3 two car teams planned) PRT Racing, ARC Bratislava and Manor (MECACHOME turbo V6) *Joest? *Rebellion Return? |

I only expect Manor and ByKolles at the moment. No one else has confirmed their entry. I'd like to see the others but even SMP's possible entry seems wishy washy.

No reason to think Kolles will disappear. If he was going to vanish surely he would have done so by now.
Manor have come out and said they're aiming for the Ginetta-Mechachrome for 2018, no reason to doubt intention of course, and they are racers through and through, so they should be there. SMP? That project is on the rocks already by all accounts, but there's plenty of time to turn it around. The rest? Who knows. ARC Bratislava are know to at least want to move up, so the intention is clear, but yes, GTs to LMP1 in 2 years is a big leap, it isn't like they'd be having to handle the complicated factory engine units, so no reason to believe they couldn't handle it from a technical perspective. Hopefully they all manage to turn up and give it a good go! |

By 2018 ByKolles should think about upgrade that chassis. I'm sure this year they will run just to save money.

I hope for variety regardless of the amount of entries.

PRT is KCMG. It's just a question of whether their "gentleman" driver stays 1) interested and 2) financially viable that long, he's already jumped from Vios Cup to LMP3 after one year.

I expect some permutation of DPi will be suggested for 2019 to replace LMP-P which will be a one-car class at that point.

I am not counting on "plans" from anyone .... 95% there except for the money.
ESM-Nissan barely made the Roar, and badly underperformed. They at least have the cash, I guess .... so long as everyone keeps drinking. SMP? They Had the money ... Russia is not a really stable environment for the wealthy, I guess ... depends on keeping tight with the right government officials. At least Straka will be on the grid with Kolles ... oh,wait .... |

Haha, gotta laugh at the suggestion dpi will be the top class at LM any time soon. Maybe they'll be allowed as say a manufacturer supported customer car, but I don't see a p2 based car with some body kit being the replacement of hybrids.
