really looking forward to your meet at Brands, hopefully see the Belmot there? Looks like an amazing bit of kit!

Now that's not such a silly idea.
The few times I ventured to Pembrey, we stayed in Llanelli and had cracking nights out there every time. Perhaps we shouldn't have raced in the morning, but hey, the attitude was a little different then (and in some ways, it was all more fun!). Simon, I'd like to be there (Brands). Work is very hectic for me, and the car needs a lot of work to (a) get it back in one piece, and (b) keep it in one piece!! |

Our new chairman Peter Edwards an Alfa owner and long term fan has been organising it behind the scenes there may also be a very big name guest driver appearance but more on that when firmed up. e nice to see a lot of the AROC members cars lining the banks for a nice static display as well.

An interesting development on the AROC front - I thought that AROC were out of racing activities, leaving that to the ARCA organisation & the BRSCC with their owner Alfa Championship.

AROC have been dabbling with more competition recently - after the schism that happened years ago that produced ARCA. Last year, we ran a small sprint series, and will be running it again - haven't been involved myself as I was occupied enough with CSCC, and to be fair the venues weren't the most attractive, but maybe this year the Committee are trying something else - or we've managed to offer the olive branch to ARCA - I know many racers there are still AROC members....... |

Can't remember the guys name that is temporarily in charge of AROC but he also seems up for some CT races as well. Also getting some other interest from Alfa owners for CT so sounds like a good association.

I am glad this sort of association is happening. The more older cars we can get out racing the better IMHO.

I believe AROC want to get involved again in competition. I stress I don't know much of the politics or the club but I can confirm they are doing something with us at Mallory.

The one in your link is a Sud Sprint raced by Tim Lewis in the Alfa series & AMOC Intermarque. It has a 2 litre supercharged engine & is probably the most highly developed Sud Sprint around. There are other well developed Alfa 33s about in the ARCA series inc a 2 litre n/a ex Italian Touring car but most are what I would call Production race cars (similar to Lancsbreakers one, I think, Class D in ARCA parlance - I raced a 1500cc one in CSCC for a while) and getting on a bit now. ARCA used to get 2 packed grids at many meetings but not now.
There are not many older Alfas racing in ARCA now, though (Alfetta & Bertone GTV & Sud era) so maybe CT can offer a home for the modified ones (& CSCC for the standard shell ones!). I have seen this Sud for sale on PH: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2364675.htm but the wide arches mean its not eligible for CSCC. A good looking car for someone, though. |

Yeah that was the guy and the car very quick. He was on pole and I was about 8th on grid bt I actually got along side him at the start then I did a silly thing, I went through the chicane instead of around turn one on the first lap as you did back then Duh!

Tim Lewis is a really nice guy, I was chatting to him at Stonleigh last year as his car was also on a stand. Really good driver and that Alfa is quick, 400BHP ish, definately one of the quickest saloons about. Be great to get him on our grid? I will try and track him down and do a bit of sales if he is not commited yet Dennis?? Nick Williamson phoned me today, he will be joining us, another of the quickest car/driver pairings in the country. Nick having beaten Rod Birley at Silverstone, Thruxton and Brands Indy is his lesser developed Escort Cossie. I hope Peter Challis and his Primera join us too, who is normally a quicker package than Keith Butcher's.
Classic Thunder is shaping up to be THE National Club Saloon Car Championship for the Quickest Cars, be great getting them racing all together in the CTCRC rather than me having to chase round in other championships to race against them individually Just need the TV coverage for all the rounds to put the icing on the cake and persuade any ditherers. |

Yes it started out black and silver. I got one of the new Clio cup cars when they were released in black and we tried a thick orange stripe down the side like a Sunbeam Lotus and then put one from Front to back over the roof and it stood out so much. I sold the Clio after driving it the 2nd time at the official Clio Cup Test Day at Silverstone before the first race, I hated the poxy front wheel drive gutless thing, it did not make me smile like the Sunbeam. So sold it there and then to Jim Edwards Snr next to us in the Pit Garage. Loved the colour scheme, so transferred it to the Sunbeam and spent the money off the Clio onit to make it even quicker |
