Probably eligible for both, subject to it meeting the appropriate regs. You could do both races.

Modern Classics" is a development of the German car only series "Deutsche Marque" which this series will replace.
"Modern Classics" will be for all makes of production saloon & hatchback (above 2 litres) and all production GT and sportscars in production up to 1 Jan 2000 of any engine capacity. Sub-2 litre forced induction saloons and hatchbacks will be allowed as they are excluded from the Tin Tops Series. In addition to the German Marques previously raced in “Deutsche Marque”, the Series will welcome cars such as the Lotus Elise, Mazda MX5, Fiat Coupe, Subaru Impreza, Alfa Romeo V6, Ginetta G20, Vauxhall Vectra V6 and TVR to name but a few. Some slightly later cars may be allowed at the discretion of the committee if deemed to be in the spirit of the series, such as the later Porsche Boxsters, forced induction BMW Minis and Fiat 500 Abarths. Lotus 7-type cars are already catered for by the clubs "Magnificent Sevens" series so will not be eligible. The eligibility rules will be simple, to encourage wide participation, as in all CSCC Series. Cars must: Run their original production silhouette. Run their original type of engine and gearbox. Run their original type of induction. Run on MSA List 1a or 1b tyres. Cars may only run standard types of spoiler or splitter originally fitted to the production model. Limited motorsport edition spoilers, splitters and wheelarch extensions will not be allowed. There are no restrictions on engine internals, brakes, wheels, suspension, etc. though cars must comply with current MSA safety regulations. The CSCC “Deutsche Marque” series has been almost entirely populated by cars of the 1990s and was in fact started due to demand from owners of cars that were too young to run in the CSCC Future Classics. This series is a logical progression for the CSCC to open up the series to makes from other countries and all the currently registered Deutsche Marque cars will be eligible for Modern Classics as long as they still comply with the eligibility rules. Races will run to the usual CSCC format one or two drivers, 40 minute pitstop races at all our 2013 meetings. There will also be the opportunity to race at Spa. Ill be running my GT4 celica next year .... its not going to be very fast as its practically still a road car and weighs as much as a truck and runs a stock engine |

Agreed - and the great thing about CSCC is the cameraderie in the paddock....enter with the right attitude and you'll come off track with a big grin - a fight to the death for 14th place can still be great fun!

Sierra
Looks like my Sierra, with thundersaloon body arches, won't be allowed in Modern Saloons

If the car has extended wheel arches that were not production items then it won't be eligible for Modern Classics I'm afraid. However, it will be eligible for, and welcome in, the Special Saloons series, I'd have thought, which also caters for Modsports, Donington GT and Thundersaloon type cars

Registrations for this series are going well, along with entries for the first race at Snetterton on Sunday April 14. We have cars registered that vary from BMW Minis to MX5s (Mk1 and Mk3) to Lotus, Ginettas, Porsches, BMWs, Ferraris, Audi TT, Toyota and even a Mitsubishi Starion. Something for all tastes and wallets!

CSCC haven't yet got round to publishing entry lists on line for their meetings; when the final instructions are issued to competitors someone usually posts an entry list if asked. Last I heard there were 20 cars entered for Snett and that was a week ago so I am encouraged by that, for the first race of a new series.

Simon, I will be there as co-ordinator for Modern Classics but the Carina is "hors de combat" at the moment (and has been for too long). It needs a decent gearbox and I can't justify the bespoke option. No one does a CR dog kit for an MR2/ Celica/ Carina box apparently. Hurley Engineering in Ely may have a solution to my problems, though.

out of interest there seems to be a few 2000+ production cars
ie BMW E46 2002 etc which werent even in production till 2001 ( oct 2000) and a few other 2000+ cars. Is this just at the discretion of the CSCC, to bump the numbers a bit? Also I thought they would have to run in a invitation class. Quite abit of difference between a eligible E36 vs E46 |

Some individual chassis maybe post year 2000 but the model may have been introduced prior to 2000 so they are eligible. The club have always had the regulation in place in all its series to allow in some cars that the Committee consider are in the spirit of the regulations, if not the actuality! Its just club racing and its just a "series" (not a championship) so better to have decent grids of similar cars (per class) than fewer cars to a perfect spec in our view! Some will criticise us for it but it seems to work out ok in the end. Cars and drivers enter at the discretion of the Committee. |

A successful first outing for the new series with 20 cars entered (unfortunately Ian Everett didn't make the start in his lovely Abbot Racing Saab as a drive shaft broke in practice).
There was a good mix of cars from a Ferrari 355 to some MX5s and there were some good battles both for the lead and through the classes. Littman and Clark won in their Boxster by just 5.5 secs from Smith and Moulton-Smith in a BMW. Honourable mentions should go to Tom Pughe and his team who changed an engine in the MX5 between Practice and the race (having driven to Essex to collect it) and then won their class! It would be great to get a few more cars out, particularly in the smaller engined classes - MX5s, Toyota MR2 (Mk1s & Mk 2 turbos perhaps), Ginetta G20s etc |

Had a few problems in the GT4 , my n/s strut was totally loose at the connection to the hub major movement occurring and a split coolent hose with 2 laps to go.
Thought the car wasn't cornering right But its the first time the car has seen a track, for a first practice/outing the problem werent too major. Does anyone have onboard footage of the race? or of the spinning car at the first corner ? |

23 entries for Brands on Mon 6 May, as we stand today. Not bad at all.

I noticed that a few of the cars were running non standard spoilers and splitters etc at Snetterton. Has this reg been loosened?

A couple of cars removed aero items before qualifying, one car was re-designated as "invitation" as changes could not be made for the race and the other cars demonstrated that they had bodykits that were available on some road cars in the range. For eg, we would allow a Porsche 996 to run a GT3 bodykit as you can buy that kit from the dealer network.
The regs applied are the same as for all the series, with the same latitudes or restrictions. |

Because the gt3 mk1 body kit ( the only one allowed) is a mainstream car; the gtr was only was only ever made for 2 cars.

Both cars are homologated specials . It doesn't matter how many we're sold .
