The fact that it has been released by the FIA on their calendar is not necessarily proof that it will happen, but if it had not been there, then it could not happen. If you see what I mean.

I wonder if moving Mexico back a week is an opportunity lost...a joint A1GP race and Radiohead concert double billing would be a great event...

Well the Lippo circuit is being used this weekend, but it seems it isn't properly reading. Perhaps if A1GP had turned up it would have been a farce. Here's hoping the Indonesian organisers learn from their GT event and run a successful A1GP round next season.

The TBA and Mexico rounds are now missing from the series official website, with no explanation. There is speculation on the web that Mexico is moved to May to twin with Brazil, but who knows.
This kind of thing basically guarantees that no sponsors will be interested in A1GP. Who would sponsor the series when you cannot plan where and when you can run promotions around your sponsorship? Much more importantly, Adrian Zaugg was beaten in a running race by a cheetah. |

There's only a very slight chance of Mexico & Brazil happening. Either both or none, but there will not be one without the other.
Series is not financially stable but Kyalami was a huge boost |

Algarve worries me. When they went to Estoril in season one only about five spectators turned up. Now sure how much knowledge and interest there is in A1GP in Portugal? If the circuit is as good as it sounds perhaps people there are expecting/waiting for F1 to return.

I think that A1GP priority is TV audience and whilst spectators add to the atmosphere at race meetings, TV techniques mean that a huge local crowd is not necessary as long as the (TV) show is exciting. It is what will bring in the revenue needed to keep it all running. I think for the long term they will need to get the crowds up and this will develop from good TV coverage. From what I have heard the new circuit will provide good racing wth lots of overtaking potential and a glamarous new backdrop to add to the image.

Normally I would agree but I am thinking of the interview with Tony T that I posted in the financial security thread, he stated quite clearly that he is not afraid to cancel events if there isn't strong local interest/ticket sales.
His comments on the grid about the next round matching the good crowd at Kyalami also sounded as much as a challenge as anything else. |

Oh yes please! This one would rival Surfers Paradise as the best event.
A1GP on this circuit would be fantastic. I'll give up on sex, whenever I'm in the mood I'll just put on a replay of the last A1GP Montreal race! The series will have to give up any pretence of being a winter series with this date, but it would be such a great event I don't think that matters much. Mexico + Canada or Brazil + Canada to finish the season? |

Would be incredible but I somehow doubt we will get all 3. If we did, it would simply be the most amazing finish to a season ever...

basically, 2 of the 3 rounds wouldn't be 'extra', and with 2 races allready definately cancelled ( Lippo and Mugello), one could argue the 3rd one isn't 'extra' either.

Interlagos probably won't happen now as it has been removed from the calendar on the official Interlagos circuit website... http://www.autodromointerlagos.com/c...omo%202009.htm.
