The real game will be won on the track.
It's the only one that matters. |

RBR and Vettel have set the car up for full dry conditions. Ferrari and Alonso have gone for a intermediate set up, gambling on the chance of rain!!
This will get very interesting if the 'expected' rain does come for quali and the race. I'm not a Ferrari fan, but am a fan of Alonso. Never was a Vettel fan, but am a RBR fan. What to do?? Have to make up my mind before qualifying starts who I will back for the WDC!! |

It is going to be a very interesting race as long as the front runners get round that first corner, any bets !

I bet the Spanish 'fans' will remain completely nonpartisan as ever.

Personality I don't think the Spanish are any more partisan than the Brits or the global tifosi.
Just seen Lewis's helmet. "Thank you McLaren". Nice touch. He ain't all bad. |

It's very slippery out there, with the bigger teams watching the smaller ones struggling.

The ultimate joker. This grid could be very random!

Agreed, everyone seems to have the knives out, personally I think he's sensational. With the Kimster as a team mate you need to be quick!

My thinking is he should know that the standard line is less than a car width from the barrier, so why take the chance part way through a quali session? He was relying on the HRT seeing him. Presumably the stewards are looking at whether the HRT deliberately squeezed him... Which I don't think he did. I think he just didn't see him and didn't expect anyone would stupid enough to stick their car in a disappearing wedge.

I know a lot of Spaniards (my fiancee is one of them). It is impossible to have a conversation about F1 with them without them insulting Hamilton and claiming that sliced bread has nothing on the virtues of Alonso.

Certainly, jedrinck. They do not merely take sides (all countries do that to an extent); they slate the hell out of Hamilton and they do not know anything about F1. It's Formula Fernando for so many of them. Well, those are not fans. The fans must exist, but I've not met a single one and I spend a lot of time in Spain.

Equally, passing anyone on a race track relies on a risk assessment by the overtaking driver. If everyone just stuffed it up the inside and hoped they were seen at every corner there'd be carnage.

it's not overtaking in this case though is it, it's passing a much slower car... i hear what de la rosa says in that he had nowhere else to go but i thought it was interesting that the bbc's counter point to his statement was maldonado using a totally different line at full pelt earlier in that section of the track
i think the problem was that grosjean's closing speed was really too high to lift out of it and not be faced with being blocked on his next fast lap as well by the hrt. it's like when you're overtaking a granny on a country road and she accidentally puts you in the grass. she was wrong, but she didn't really do anything on purpose. |

I've not met those. Seriously, what kind of people? They sound more like some of the typical football fans (I'm going to get slated for this).
