What a fantastic race, and an even more fantastic overtaking by Muller on Tarquini.

Jeez, what was Zanardi thinking? They should give him a heavy penalty for Race 2, or disqualify him or something. Idiot.

Nice race for the rest, shame they weren't able to overtake, but still a good show.

First diesel victory in a FIA touring car championship.

Nice overtaking by Muller. Unfortunaly in the rest of the race there was no overtaking.

D'Aste and Rangoni can do a good job for privateers championship.

Why did Freitas not take part in the race? Technical problems? For this race he had a new factory engine.

Interresting that most of the drivers still hasn't learned to do a proper rolling start. STCC does it all the time, but they doesn't have first corner carnage each race.

Don't know about you, but I thought that Gene's first corner move was a bit reckless and not really on. Gutted for Colciago, who got taken off at the first corner in both races (well, in the first he actually lasted two). Surprised to see Priaulx being so aggresive on Farfus. I understand that he thought he had more pace, but it was his actions that brought the pack up to them again. He seemed to figure that out too, and was quite close several times, but it never came as close as the first time. If he'd forced the issue at their first contact I think he would have won. I saw him try the move Muller made on Tarquini in race 1, but for some reason he couldn't get his car to turn as well as the SEAT did. Again, had he at any point forced the issue a bit more he would have won.

I know that. But Colciago did get taken off at corner two, race 1, lap 1, while in third/fourth with all the kafuffle caused by Menu's spin. This dropped him down to 8th/9th.

Do you think the new first corner of Oschersleben is unnecessarily tight?
Like Martin Haven said, they almost need a handbrake to turn there.

Why did they change it?

I have never been that keen on the track layout, its rather flat, feature-less and boring, and reminds me of Magny Cours.

There are also few places to pass.

So, I'm not the only one who thinks the first turn is not very smart in terms of layout, I cannot remember seeing a car race here where races are not ruined or cars damaged because the whole field tries to funnel through a ridiculously tight turn. I know you can argue that the drivers should know this and perhaps should be that bit more cautious, fair point, but why increase the probability of accidents more than is necessary by requiring cars to almost come to a halt.

The corner needs to be revised.

PS: Zanardi's spatial awareness at the start of race 1 was not exactly brilliant was it?

Was much better in race 2 - brilliant drive through up to 8th. Looks like he got damaged trying to get that position off of Monteiro when he ended up in the ex-CART club and fell back.

Zanardi drove like a moron. Not just the start in RACE 1, also his fight with Monteiro was plain stupid. How wil he ever score points if he keeps driving into people? He's way to hotheaded in that car, it's not the first time he has done stuff like this.

I have to agree with Hazard on that one. Zanardi drove brillaintly in race 2, and imo Monteiro was driving like a moron in the battle with Zanardi.
