I'd like to think of these as growing pains. It doesn't make it any less annoying or necessary.

Prequalifying was delayed for two hours, and, from the times on the livetiming, it seems that the track is wet (they are more than 10 seconds off the pace of this morning's practise).

According to John Dagys of SPEED (who is at the track) the delay was due to a severe storm... I mean, you can't have racing cars out there when there's a hail storm.

Stream is live, the GT1 music on a loop mixed in with the local TC2000 touring car series

Is the stream letterboxed/squashed in height for anyone else? It's a bit of an inconvenience, cars look like pancakes.
EDIT: Edwards and Wattie again! Terrific. If they manage to hold on to them as commentators for the whole of next year, it should be great. Last edited by Victor_RO; 4 Dec 2010 at 20:07. |

Now that I think of it. A race held at twilight / night would look absolutely fabulous here.

Wattie just said the #12 Vette crashed in pre-qually, I wonder was the chauffer at the wheel at the time

I hope that means "Grandpa" has had enough and will let someone with some actual talent drive that car for a change instead of him next year... if the Vettes stay in for next year.

Okay, the championship is over and Bertolini/Bartels are champions... the #7 Aston got knocked out in Q1. :| Not mathematically, of course, but realistically.

I see All-Inkl have put Bouchut aside for this race. Wonder if his antics in quali last weekend had anything to do with it...

Drainage looks pretty bad, puddles on the edge of the track and a river across the exit of one of the last few corners...

Hindsight is 20/20 and all of that, but Young Driver should have split Turner and Enge to maximize their chances...

Yeah, just like Prospeed did last year with Westbrook and Collard @ Zolder.

Well, for all the whining we've heard about the (lack of) pace from the current spec GT1 cars this year, this is closer than I might have thought they'd be to 2008 pace. Lopez turns in a 2:14.4 on rooted tires, with water on the exit of that last right-hander, and on a track that was still rubbering in. I don't think that's too bad a time compared to Fassler's 2:13.2 from 2008, set in more or less ideal conditions.

You'll have to throw out:
2010 LMS Saleen at Algarve- we know that Saleen isn't on pace with any other GT1 2006 FIA GT Corvette at Paul Ricard- they didn't use the Mistral chicane in 2006 I've compiled the times in a spreadsheet, so I know. Still, I'd say we're seeing some signs of progress on the pace of the cars. Also, EVERYBODY, not just FIA GT, would appear to have pegged back the GT1s for 2009, so some of this drop-off canNOT just be laid at the feet of SRO. |

Speed isn't everything though in terms of what produces good racing. Look at touring cars and particular WTCC and BTCC. Not that fast, but they produce some cracking racing.
