Quite a bit of nostalgia here , so a bit of history .
Hollesley Bay , a small coastal village had a garage which started building racing engines . It was called HOLBAY Racing Engines . Very successful in Formula ford , and most other things which used Ford engines .They also did the H120 engines for Rootes , [ as it was then ]. In about the 60s they moved to a unit on an industrial estate on the old Martlesham Heath airbase where they stayed for a long time until the death of John Read in [ I think ] the 90s when the company split up . Very close to Holbay on Martlesham was a company called Scholar racing engines . They started of in an old School building , [ hence the name ]. They are still going but now work out of Mendlesham . Both long time experts in building competition engines , especially Ford types . |

I had no idea that either of those names were for those reasons, thanks for the info.

Found a couple more. I'm not sure if the Westfield one is old or new, there's quite a few modern ones out there but the font looks different so I think this might be a period item.
The Piper one is interesting as it's different to the other Piper one I posted and appears to be specific to the Piper GT car. That makes a total of 56 different types I've found so far, excluding the ones which are definitely modern. |

These are the modern ones I keep mentioning. They all appear to be cast by the same company who used to offer them to the public with various different words on.
I've seen the basic letter only ones with 'Cortina', 'Escort', 'Fiesta' on but can't find pictures. Either way, they're not period items. The IKE and HPE ones seem to be a variation with a bit more style than just upper case lettering and they look quite good for it in my opinion. |

Et voila, Mike. Sorry, I mean thank you, of course. Nowadays, you can have a bespoke writing on a rocker cover but as you say Robin, those are obviously modern ones.

https://www.bspeed.co.nz/ https://customcycleengineering.net/rocker-covers/ http://stcp2024-96.ashop.com.au/p/46...-polished.html and so on. Choice is yours. Why some are said super high? Probably to let room to rocker rollers or extra long adjusting screws. Avalaible for V6 Essex engines for instance (I have 2 pairs of those).

https://www.scholarengines.com/ I remember Doug Wardropper was the one who started it in 1968 , and his son Alan carried on the business . PS , glad you liked IDIOCRACY . I always thought it must just be my sense of humour to enjoy things like that . |

Just stumbled upon this pre-crossflow in a DeTomaso Formula Junior.

I've found another variation of the De Tomaso one and one from Budd Power in South Africa. This has become a bit of an obsession now, I find myself looking through motorsport/classic car ads and seeking out engine builders most evenings while I'm sat in front of my TV. I can't believe I keep finding them.

No info on this engine and that’s the only picture I can find. Rocker cover is interesting though in that it looks like it’s just a thin lid on top of a machined piece.

Looks like it is in a Westfield 7 . Probably , with a supercharger , there is a lot of pressure gets by into the breather system , so it needs a very well machined/fitting rocker box to stop oil leaks . |

Ah, I think a couple of the other pictures I found elsewhere are linked on his site too.
Additionally, on that page buried in the links is another Vulcan design. |

Interesting. A SU carb aspirated by the supercharger looks like a tribute to the "Blowers". All in all a nice piece of kit.
