Yes LAA is getting a second C6.R, I would think it is the 006 chassis or maybe the 003 chasis. Not sure if the 005 chassis was a write off or not after Jan got punted at Petit.

Which chassis was the #33 used as the 3rd car at Mosport, and then as the #3 after 005 was crashed at Petit? 003?

And then Corvette will race with 007 and 008 in 2008?

That is my thinking on it. But there is a blurb at BBV about a car being for sale and that it was chassis 005 that was used in Sebring and Mosport as the Fellows tribute car and at Laguna as the "Jake" car. But that is impossible as there were 3 cars at Mosport and the 003 chassis ran as the #33. So I am a little puzzled as to which chassis ran at Laguna as the #3.

C6R-005 was rebuilt after Petit and offered for sale.

Scoop, Scoop, Scoop

This very official info scoops all the news hounds, I hope:

- Corvette C6R-003 has been sold to Luc Alphland

- Corvette C6R-006 has been sold to SRT

- Corvette C6R-005 has risen from the ashes and has a pending deal with an appropriate team.

Hi Golden Eagle,

As of this instant, much of that section is the most up-to-date Corvette info on the web anywhere. (Re: my above post)

#005 still pending. Talking to Phoenix about this one.

Compliments on your site, been visiting it for quite some time now!

Do you guys know if Hezemans/Carsport Holland still has his C6.R? If i'm not mistaken I've read some rumours that he was thinking of selling the 'Vette and racing the DBR9?

It would be great to have a Carsport/Phoenix dual Corvette team.

David,

I agree with the other posters, you do a great job on your web-site and in your posts to this forum of keeping us all informed about what's going on with Corvette Racing. We all thank you for that and appreciate your efforts. I have a question for you. If C6R #1 is with Carsport, #2 is with PSI, #3 & #4 are with LAA, & #5 & #6 are off to Phoenix and SRT, that leaves Corvette Racing with only #7 & #8. What will they do for a back-up if they have a mishap like last year at PLM? Is there a #9 hiding somewhere?

How about:

Actually, the 2008 backup question came up elsewhere so I asked my insider but have no answer yet. Considering all that is going on with LMP1 talk, "Private" GT2 Corvettes, FIA 2010 rules and no ALMS GT1 competition, GM may be reluctant to invest in 2 cars to gather dust all year like 007 and 008 did in 2007. In a real pinch, C5/6R-012, the C6.R development mule, has not been seen on the show circuit for a while but is assumed to still be available. That strange story is here C6R Show Cars.

Just for further entertainment, a friend has promised to send me pictures of a C6.R show car that he saw in 2005 and it had a production VIN number that indicates it was based on a 1999 C-5 Hardtop pilot production car!!

STOP PRESS!! SCOOP!!!
Honest, as I was creating the epistle above, the answer came from my insider: There will be no chassis 9 and 10.

Considering my speculations above, and other implications that I surely have missed, this is BIG news!! Right??

Hmmm... this picture looks familiar! Looks just like the one I took this summer, in fact, it is! No biggie though, just an amazing coincidence!

I can give you a pic of hezemans Spa 24hrs winning #001 if you want, altough there is a much nicer one at fiagt.com. Just let me know!

I think your chassis are mixed up my friend. Here is the list of C6Rs:
#1-Carsport(2005 #3 ALMS)
#2-PSI (2005 #4 ALMS)
#3-not sold (2006 #3 ALMS)
#4-LAA (2006 #4 ALMS)
#5-not sold (2007 #3 ALMS)
#6-LAA (2007 #4 ALMS)
#7-Pratt&Miller (2008 #3 ALMS)
#8-Pratt&Miller (2008 #4 ALMS)

I doubt SRT will get the 5 chassis...My friend works for Corvette Motorsport so he will let me know when any news on the teams is announced

The information was from David Palmeter's Web-site not my own surmise. I believe he is quite accurate in his posts regarding the racing Corvettes. In any event, he answered my question regarding whether there would be a back-up car this year.

"14/02/2008: Phoenix Carsport to double up their Corvettes for 2008 !
Phoenix Carsport have announced their plans for the 2008 season on their web site.

The team stated that "Phoenix Carsport will see the addition of both a second C6R Corvette as well as 2 new drivers." The 001 chassis, which raced in the FIA GT Championship last year, will be raced by the all-Swiss line-up of Marcel Fässler and Jean Denis Delatraz.

The second car, which was the chassis 005 from the 2007 ALMS season, will be shared by Mike Hezemans - leading the FIA GT Championship in races and pole positions - and 2004 Champion Fabrizio Gollin. All four drivers were victorious in the 2007 edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

GMAC have also announced that they will be partnering the team as one of the main sponsors."

From the FIA GT site.

This is good to hear from Corvette. I first saw this story on Corvette Motorsports website yesterday...soon followed by others. A press release should be out later with more details.

The 005 car is still in detroit. Not sure when it will be shipped to EU.
