There are few things better than standing on pit straight live and in person when the cars form up after their parade lap.

The Hollywood stuff is completed at that stage, the teams also back in the relative comfort of their pit lane garage.

The crimson mist descends... the drivers know a good start is critical here, for while it is a long day, the difficulty of getting past a similarly speeds car is not to be ignored.

Countdown begins, the engine revs go up, ear piercingly so... so does the cheer from the crowd... man versus clutch material... lights change... WHAM!! They are away...

Some are away, some better than their grid spot, some worse, some with dents where they werent just a few moments ago...

And the SuperCheap Auto 1000 has begun! 161 times past the timing lights to go...

Had a look at the advanced tv guide for 7mate the other day and it appears they will be showing a Bathurst marathon on October 2nd. No details on how long or what it will contain are available yet.

You'll be the one with the 'Hello Woolley' banner then. I shan't be truly happy unless I see at least one.

Can anyone point me to live timing for the event? Will it be on the V8 official site (someone direct me to the right spot - I find that site more than a little messy to navigate.)

Hopefully luff forgets the balaclava. Again. Not the favorite.

Luff didn't drop out of the Top 5 in his Stints in 2005 and did a fantastic job, aslong as the officials don't think his balaclava is invisable this year the #18 will be in a very strong position.

Having been there 2 years ago on my honeymoon and with my brother currently residing in Brisbane, a trip to Mount Panorama in the next few years may not be out of the question although Der Fuhrer (aka Mrs DCR) may put a stop to that

I'm going to be in Thailand for the next 4 weeks and while I will be able to get online in my experience the connection will not be very fast.

Bottom line is I will be relying on you guys for regular updates over the race weekend.
Just saying thanks in advance.

anyone in the US know how to watch the whole race? I have been keeping up to date with SpeedTV's 2 hour coverage but that just wont cut it for Bathurst.

Dose anyone know if the gAyFL is taking over the Saturday TV so the V8 punters miss out on the afternoon broadcast or is channel joke 7 going to continue showing Bathurst on one of its "other" channels so I dont have to watch boring football.

Dont worry I was a week infront of myself

confirmed by speedcafe, Briscoe is subbed in and Percat is benched.

Percat will still be at the mountain for the Fujitsu series, but you think he has to be on standby in case anything happens to any of the Bundy Red drivers.

A pity, since Percat and Thompson were matching each other for lap times during the L&H 500.

A word to Bundy Red Racing...'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'...and by that i mean the driver line-up.

Well, Briscoe was stunning last time out at Bathurst and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he goes, so I respectfully disagree. Percat did do a fantastic job though given his lack of experience.

Briscoe is very marketable and potentially a future HRT driver I would think...

Also Briscoe needs the miles for the Gold Coast.
