The Cupra thing by Seat is a joke, just different logos on existing cars. I'd respect them if they did something like Citroen did with DS but this is just stupid.

For now it seems like a joke and in general I don't see any reason to seperate Cupra from Seat, especially consdering the fact that Seat is not a huge brand. But when it comes to the cars, as far as I know, it is only a temporary situation that Cupras are the same as Seats. In the future, Cupras will have separate cars.
But I think Seat will lose its identity. Seat has been Volkswagen 2 or Audi 2 or Skoda 2 for some time but what was characteristic was that Seat has always been 'sporty' type of brand. Many of their cars have such a vibe (ok, not all of them but still). But now, when Cupra is this 'sporty' brand, what Seat is then all about? Cheaper and poorer Audi? Well, then you'd rather go for VW.
For me completely unreasonable move.

I read that as well and completely agree with the rest of your post. In my opinion they should've waited with the while operation until they had some actual cars to show...

West Coast was testing with WTCR crews recently. Although not stated in this article, it's believed they are running in STCC this season. A nice addition if true!

In other news, Wernersson to do a full season with Lestrup Racing.

With STCC moving to a different tv channel will it still be available online for viewers outside Sweden?

Already 18 cars confirmed. Havent heard anything about our Finnish friends yet with LMS Racing. They didnt have a great season last year so wondering if they are choosing other series over STCC for 2018?

Yes that is also really great news, he had a torrid time last year in the KIA, still had some impressive drives the few times the car held together. Looking forward to see if he can fight for wins now.

And that makes it 20 confirmed entries, the most STCC has had in a long time.

There were 20 cars at Alastaro last year. 19 at Knutstorp.

But only 16 at the final round.

A good quality field for a national championship. Hopefully this is STCC on a good road to recovery.

Nicklas is better than that car was.

With the reversed grid for the second race of the weekend I guess we could see quite a few surprise winners and podium finishes up there.

Right now we stand at 11 Golf's, 4 SEAT, 4 Audi and one lone Honda. Looks like the VAG brands really has a tight grip on TCR at the moment. Would have been fun to see a couple Hyundai's, but I guess they are short stacked and they prioritize WTCR?

A decent driver with a Hyundai stands to benefit in this series. But none, as of yet.

Great to see a healthy field in STCC again! Really looking forward to this season.

Even if it is understandable due to the support available, it's a shame that there are so many VAG's. Hopefully this will sort itself in the future. Would have loved to see some Hyundai's, new Honda and even Peugeot this year. Perhaps there is still some hope?

I would love to see an Opel Astra TCR in STCC, but the interest from Opel Sweden is zero (at least it was last year). They only have little interest in Tom Kristensson in ERC R2 class. I also had a feeling rallycross queen Magda Andersson would show up, I think she could do great.

The Alfa seems like a better choice now, or at least for the second half of the season when Gio, Morbi and Heaxthron have started to do some magic on the car. Maybe we could have some "Marcus Ericsson effect" and see Joakim Darbom in an Alfa TCR, with Marcus visiting a few races and making a buzz?

I can't help feeling that it would be nice if the KIA returns, for the variety. At least better than having it sitting around in a garage.
