I thought the same thing. Either that or why couldn't the southern teams test at an earlier date to accommodate everyone.

Winton is HRT/WR's nominated test track, so, no.

Because it's easier to give one team a leave pass than the shift the whole circus. Chances are high that some teams might not be ready a week earlier. Certainly would reduce the number of potential Fujitsu Series teams in attendance.

We're still waiting on confirmation of what's happenning with the two Britek franchises, PMM haven't taken delivery of both their new Commodores yet. Last year if taken a week early at least one team would have been absent.

Surely the clowns in charge knew all of this HRT stuff was going to happen months ago, or (as I expect) do they just make it up as they go .

Months? No. Weeks? Yes. They've only known since the calndar was announced. They might not have known at the time of the calendar announcement the dates of the test days and the shipping dates, and they might not yet have known which team had to travel to Qld.

But even if you did, what could you change?

Well 1 team had to travel to Qld, if not HRT & co then somebody (it's on rotation I believe), they must of know all the dates before November 24th since that's when the public became aware (see post 1). Why not have both tests the week before?

Of course the ideal would have been to not bother with the sand trap visit, but that's another topic.

Live Timing unlikely.

Previous years at Winton the Natsoft system was set up so the teams could see the times on thier TV screens and I sort of nudged them to send out a couple of updates over the course of the day for those not there to see what was going on.

You usually find the teams will set a bench mark quick time at the start of the day and then change the car set ups until the last minute and then there's a rush of times trying to top the timesheets. There's no prize for being fastest.

...either that, or like last year when a team wheeled their car out for a private session on an adjacent day with some red hot times, but played the go-slow game during the group test.

well i guess you need a lap top and a camera, but after that, dick smith seems to have everything covered

in theory you could do it straight from your mobile phone, but i cant help you there, reckon retro would have a handle on it

but i should add, it might be more fun just taking in the day and adding photos latter

yeah you might be right mate , I got the camera and lap top but usually run that off my wireless home connection , never played around with the mobile wireless stuff.

If I get time I might check it out

Thanks

You can get mobile broadband kits from any of the major telcos. Just be weary in choosing whether you want a data limit or time limit per month.

Would be great to get some live pictures.

Telstra has two base stations pointing towards Winton both within 2km of the track,
Optus has one on a powerline pylon on the other side of the freeway also about 2km away,
Vodafone is a fair way down the Hume towards Glenrowan.

Just the 14 expected main series cars. Very disappointing at the lack of Fujitsu Series cars, ie, complete and total lack.
