I'm pretty sure they will have looked in far more detail at the shootout lap and the first 3 hours of the race than at a mistake that can be ironed out with increasing amounts of racing experience in these cars.

Did you want some cream with that humble pie?

I wonder if Mr Richards would ask Tickford to run the Aston, or assist in it at least, Stanaway obviously has ties as well.

Only if its a GT4...

On another note, I still do not understand why Tickford are not running a Mustang GT4, throw some kids in they are keeping an eye on, along with someone like Paul Morris or Glenn Seton to mentor, do it in the 77 replica livery and plaster the sides with their logo, and have some of their premium optioned cars in a marquee in the paddock.

It would make sense, but it would seem that they are content with placing all their eggs into one basket.

Yes its hard to understand why Tickford who produce a $20,000 add on kit for mustangs would not want to race a $300,000 mustang produced by a competitor in a series no one watches

As opposed to a $500,000+ sedan that you cannot buy, from a manufacturer that doesn't produce the car, from a series that is struggling to sort its future direction?

But still a series that attracts massive crowds, sponsorship and tv coverage.

Thus making it worth spending the money

as opposed to gt4 where apart from the international bathurst 12 hour we havent had a race for many years

Not sure how Multimatic are a competitor to Tickford's potential client base. And I watch the series, and I know quite a few others who do. Judging by your comments in this and the 2018 thread, so do you.

What better way to give the illusion of your product's performance than racing the same type of car you sell the go fast bits for?

Or are you just trolling again?

Really you watched Australian Gt4 did you. Enjoyed watching that KTM in the couple of races cruise around by itself did you

Maybe we will have a series in 2018 for Gt4, we dont know yet, but it wont be big and it wont be in front of any huge crowd that make it worth Tickford buying one

Won't GT4 be eligible for the Australian GT Championship racing at the Australian Grand Prix?

And the SMP round in front of the v8sc crowd.

I think the Bend Motorsport Park round might draw a decent crowd as well.

I watched the 2018 Bathurst 12 hour, which had a few GT4 cars in it unless my memery is failing, which is being repeated next year and is the subject of this thread, not AusGT. How about we stick to the topic as you are want to say?

I was watching the GT4 race within a race keenly as I am quite partial to nice looking BMWs.

Can we not have a single discussion without ridiculing orher people's opinion?

you asked why tickford are not running a GT4, i answered you. To be clear a $300,000 Gt4 mustang is not a good deal in Australia.
GT4 is a beginners level category for gentleman racers. Gt4 is an almost non existent category in Australia so hardly worth spending $300,000 for a one off event when you can spend that money and run in other sereis which are better attended or watched.

The price is similar to a MARC II which is up to 10 seconds a lap quicker as well and promoted the mustang a lot more attractively

and im sure we can have a discussion without ridicule. I would like that. Are you up to it as well? Takes 2

There is a video piece from Mr Longhurst somewhere, where he said that the factory-supplied BMW M4 GT4 was quicker in laptimes than his Bathurst winning Sierra back in 1988...

Out of the box..

Why 50 / 50? What is not to like about the class being included in the event.

Because its a beginner level Gt series. full of beginners who can get there bathurst rush at the 6 hour

Easy to make an argument that it shouldnt be there

Adds very little to the spectacle of the event either

However it makes those that believe in quantity over quality feel happy.

that being said I can give reasons for it being there as well, thus im 50:50

Nothing. either a smaller field or more of the other cars

40 cars does not worry me. smaller fields have tended to mean less safety cars.

Im not sure anyone would be upset with less safety cars
