A terrible accident, not heard of anything quite like it before, but I wish Jason and his family all the very best at this difficult time.

Good News
After a couple of weeks of bad news finally the report from Florida that we all have hoped for:
This is in from Barton Workman Jason is improving daily. Now out of ICU and into a private room. Today's great update (the one we've been waiting for) from Patricia... BHW 'We graduated !!! One day later than I thought - but it happened earlier than the medical team expected. Jason was moved from ICU Trauma to 'Step Down' today. No more ventilator - only a little oxygen. The Trach will be capped soon and removed as soon as they are sure he can cough and swallow correctly - and he is doing that already. He is in a private room, totally awake, aware, much stronger than expected and definitely happier. Prayers are working better than we asked for. Thank you, thank you, thank you!' Patricia |

Update
Barton Workman sends me this update............all very encouraging.
Latest news on Jason. We had planned to go see him today but Patricia advised that he's still a bit freaked out so we'll shoot for Sunday instead... "'Unbelievable !!! The Trach was down-sized and capped today - Jason is talking and making jokes, asking 100 questions and eating real food. He is amazing !!! He asked about almost all of you out there by name, remembers everything and everybody. Still physically VERY weak and occasionally disoriented, but completely aware. "He did say he would prefer not to have visitors for another week or so until he is stronger (he feels a little self-conscious about his current condition). All you friends and family out there: You have some powerful connections with the divine spirit and Jason is reaping the benefits and he himself is totally ready to tackle rehab 150% and finish on top. I can't tell you how happy and thankful we are for your prayers and support.' Patricia" |

Latest Update
This just in from Barton Workman
We finally got it together today as I'd been anxious to go see Jason at St. Mary's once he was awake but he was not up to start seeing people until last weekend. Jason and I met in the courtyard of St. Mary's with his mother Patricia and family friend Glenn for just a little under an hour today. It's a beautiful day in South Florida today if not a bit warm in the sun so we positioned Jason in the shade while we talked a bit. Jason's progress is absolutely amazing! He's coherent and not in pain except when he attempts to raise his right arm which is wrapped and in a cast. Jason even got out of his wheelchair and stood on his own for a couple of minutes. He cant walk just yet but the fact that he got himself to his feet indicates that he's well on his way to recovery and we were already talking about strategy for the December Endurance Karting event at Moroso; we've got to do those driver exchanges faster! Jason thanks all of his friends, colleagues and well wishers and is absolutely amazed at the outpouring of support since his incident and he's a testament to the abuse the body can take and still come back. At the rate Jason is improving, he should be dismissed from St. Mary's in a week and then move to a nearby apartment to continue his rehabilitation before he's cleared to back to Atlanta where he's looking forward to getting back to work. |

As Jason is now on his way back to full health and there won't be any changes from day to day Patricia won't be posting quite as often on that site.
Doesn't help that the spammers have invaded. |
