In fact, they bent their rules so much all GTS cars will look like this next year

Why the "knock" on Trans Am cars. TA cars are fine racing machines that cost significantly more than a Winston Cup car and I do not mean to slight the WC cars. TA cars with their 650+ HP put on a fine show.

Who's knocking Trans Am? I'm knocking Grand-Am/NASCAR.

T/A's not what it once was, but it's still an exciting series... Best season this year it's had in a long time.

Be fair though, that Multimatic rendering is the worst image out there of any DSC. It's just badly done. The car looks like it's bent out of shape. They won't actually build it like this (I hope)
We haven't seen those cars "in the flesh" yet; who knows, they may look nice. they certainly seem to have struck a chord with quite a few American road racing fans.
I'm not convinced this is the way to go but let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'd love 'em if they had 8.0L pushrod engines with big 'ol drag racing cams! They'd be like Can-Am with roofs!

But instead they'll look like overgrown Sports 2000 cars.

(they don't necessarily have to be pushrods ) - I said the same thing. If it's not innovative at least make it spectacular. But on a, erm, certain message board associated with the series, the reply was "they're big enough". Oh well. I understand that they have to keep other series and their interests in mind. It mustn't be a bigger show than NASCAR. Compares with the FIA's "4l V8s are anough for sportscars" vis-a-vis the current F1 crisis...

The 4l V8 idea I personally do not think will happen. It was however proposed by Ferrari and another manufactuer. The engines were supposed to be racing engines like the Judd etc. I don't want them, not because they are not powerful, but because I like variety.

I hope you are right but everybody seems so d*mn sure about it. The other manufacturer was reportedly Porsche.
