Sounds pleasant, great. As to the not so roomy cabin I understand. Re the braking, its an ongoing theme in historic I fear.

Can’t express how glad I am to read this and to see Gilbert being enjoyed as Mike did. Mary even wore a Team Tango shirt, from when Mike & I used to race together in the 360, for good luck.

Probably not realised that pulling the handbrake up one or two clicks compensates quite well during long periods.Finished my second ever Spa 6hr with the hbrake up four clicks, pedal was still great though.

As my normal steed is MG Midget-based I'm familiar with taking up the slack as a long race progresses. However this was lap 2 of a 15 minute test session!

Poor braking systems were a problem that we often had back in the 60s, so lap 2 is not something that surprises me. I can remember that after a 10 lap race at Brands Indy back then that I had actually no braking action left as I drove back to the paddock, resulting in my "using" the car in front of me to stop my car when we had to wait to go through the tunnel. Luckily I had been crawling along the roadway because of the lack of brakes, meaning that I didn't damage either of the cars - more of a very gentle tap, such as might happen when in a very tight parking spot when trying to get in or out of the space. Very embarrassing, indeed.

Similar to Andy97's problem with heavy steering in his Escort, we have all probably got so used to servo assisted braking and power steering, and this accentuates our feelings when driving cars without these things.

It does help and certainly with a mixed braking system discs/drums. I dont think many Capris finished the 24 hours race at Spa with the whole system in working order. Some mechanics were good at deleting the rear brakes just pinching the rear hose with a pair of pliers.

On this day last year we lost Mike. Today though we loaded up Gilbert ready to go to Donington with David and Peter driving in 1 hour race with CSCC. Good luck boys but make sure you look after our little car. Have fun.
