Japanese AUTOSPORT magazine scooped FIA-GT3 spec GTR test by NISMO at Fuji.
Test driver is Masataka Yanagida(Nissan driver). Tire is Michelin. It has twin rear exhaust. The engine is obviously V6(!) judging from the photograph of the engine room(It must be VR38DETT of twin turbo). http://www.sun-a.com/magazine/detail.php?pid=4803 |

NISMO announced that it would expand the partnership with JR Motorsport (JRM) to the GT3 project of Nissan GTR.
NISMO is developing GT3 spec GTR with JRM now. JRM does the running test including the race in Europe, develops the vehicle, and produces the vehicle and parts in this project. In addition, JRM will work on the customer support as a dealer of GT3-GTR in Europe, Russia, and the Middle East region. http://www.carview.co.jp/news/0/147948/ |

Mr Tony Quinn of VIP Petfoods fame was reported recently as having laid down a deposit on a Nissan GT-R GT3 to run at the Bathurst 12 hout next February...
Mr Quinn has won two Targa Tasmania tarmac rallies in an R35 GT-R.. amongst other competitive runs in a Mosler, various 911's, Aston Martin GT3, Evo Lancer and the like. Sorted correctly, with the right copilots, the Nissan should be an outright contender against the 997 GT3R and Audi R8s... |

I'd be surprised if the lineup was anything other then him, his son and Bairdo which ran this year. The car should be pretty well sorted, its being built by the factory and developed by JRM who race in GT1. Tony is building up quite a fleet, I'd be happy to look after the DBSR9 if he is no longer racing it...

GT
That car is far to big to be racing in GT-Anything.
It has to be big. that is why it is called "GT". GRAND TOURING or GRAN TOURISMO. If it is a peeny tiny tiny then it would suit the LMP calss. Alo big doesnt mean slow. IT is still super agile. You will see in the races. It will eat other "smaller cars". |

and at this moment - although not yet confirmed - it is unlikely that the Nissan GT3 will be racing in the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

That Schulze Motorsport GT-R is one tough looking car!
It'd be great if Nissan ran the GTR GT3 at the 24hr, would be a nice replacement for the Falken R34 (where is that car these days?). |

It's a shame Nissan and Lexus aren't doing a full factory assault in the 24 hours race.
BTW The Schulze Nissan looks great. |

Personally Im confused as to why Nissan would homologate the car with a picnic table sitting on the bootlid, maybe its some form of revolutionary aero. |

Maybe it's not terribly reliable yet, so it gives the driver a seat to watch the other cars from?
Or it really IS a picnic table, and there's a hamper stored inside somewhere! |
