Typical power loss in a manual transmission is about 15-20%

evo! don't tease me. It probably won't make it state side. I know the thing is stiff, but imagine if it had two normal doors

Unlike some Japanese manufacturers who have withheld thier super sports cars from us poor North Americans, Mazda has usually been good about giving us the good stuff. And now that Subaru and Mitsubishi have learned the error of thier ways, and supposedly the next Skyline is coming over here, I imagine we'll get the new RX-7. When is the only question.

Oh, and I've decided that instead of an RX-8, I'll spend another $5000 and get a WRX STi

evo, surprised by that seeing your name but can't blame you. Actually got to track test one and had a semi-permanent grin. be prepared to wait though. When we went shopping for one, they told us delivery times that ranged from december to next March.

And not even mazda has been all that good to the US, they got killed on rx7 warrenty claims and the car left here before it died elswherem, we also don't get the hot versions of Miatas from what I hear

Actually the name comes from my all time dream car (which was also never imported here) the BMW E30 M3 Evo. And we can't buy the Lancer Evo in Canada because it doesn't pass Canadian crash tests, which are only slightly more stringent than the US ones. So WRX STi it is. And you are right, I'm going to have to wait.

At first I didn't think much of them especially after the last RX-7 which I loved. Now after hearing how good they are and seeing some great RX-8 pictures on the net, I'd get one in a heartbeat along with a Cooper S Mini, all I need now is about 130k.....

A red one came up behind me the other day. Fantastic. The car looks great in the rear mirror. There was heaps of traffic and I got a good look as it went passed. I've now seen two in the last week.

Owners have dynoed low, but not 180hp low. Mazda made a retraction. Instead of 247hp its now 238hp for the engine in the manual. (why anyone would buy the auto with the weaker engine is beyond me) Mazda gave all owners good compensation and is willing to buy back any of them from unsatisfied customers.

How bad is the fuel consumption on an RX7 or RX8, and do they still use more oil than other cars ???
