there's a market for it for sure, there's a couple of drivers who do nec with some eurocup wildcard entries as a precursor to a full eurocup year, there's people like bm racing and a few others that fell out of my head who run single cars, and teams who own the cars but don't often find people to run in them. it's the only series offering somewhere to race those cars in europe that isn't the eurocup, and it's not a bad calendar at all.
you'd hope they'd be able to average 15 cars a race at least, even if it makes it hard for all but the biggest teams to do both that and eurocup for different drivers. |

They generally averaged above 20 cars as well, with the finale at Estoril having 22 current-gen FR2.0s: http://www.vdev.fr/datas/media/581dc...ce-1-cumul.pdf |

Yes but NEC is a low level series for aspiring pro racers.
With all due respect Vdev is club racing with a mix of young and old pilots. |

agree, it's not really the same though in fairness there were several teams who swapped between nec and the vdev series this year, from that timesheet formula motorsport, ts corse and possibly gsk all did at least one nec race.

Call it "club" if you wish, but they do a better job of cost-effective racing. Peroni didn't have any problems being competitive in Eurocup. |

I attended the final round of the South American Formula 4 Championship at El Pinar. There were 11 cars.

Ticktum dodged a bullet there. He should thank RedBu. Wouldn't have looked too good against Norris in F3... let's see how he does against the reigning British F4 champion in the midfield of the Eurocup... |

Arden has completed its line-up, with Zane Goddard and Ghislain Cordeel.
Makes 22 confirmed drivers, with 3 Formula 4 champs (Fewtrell, Yifei & Verschoor), some good other talented drivers (Ticktum,Fenestraz & Schwartzman) it should be a good season again. Let's see if there is a new Lando Norris out there to win it in the rookie season, but i'll put my money on Schwartzman or Fenestraz. Really bad to see the NEC FR2.0 has 2 clashes with the Eurocup.... doesn't make sence to do both series this year.. |

i think the eurocup expanding made a joint programme irrelevant anyway, and imo time will show pushing out the nec as being the start of the end for 2.0.

Thing is Renault decided to add triple-headers for all of the NEC rounds but only a few Eurocup ones. Odd decision given the scheduling.
It's 3, actually, which is why everyone has signed for Eurocup. Looks like a stronger field than European F3 though. |

I don't agree with your last comment. I think the drivers doing Renault 2.0 are there because they are not ready for FIA F3, not because they decided Eurocup was a better championship. You can go to DTM or GP2 from FIA F3, but never from Eurocup!

Not bad, but it seems their choice of scheduling has killed off NEC in the process.

Renault have realised the folly of clashing rounds, and adjusted the NEC schedule to boost the grid with Eurocup crossover entries: http://necup.com/nec-presents-amende...amme-calendar/
