Is there anyone that doesn't know what Gran Turismo is at this point? Especially after all the VGTs we've seen.

In this week's AUTOhebdo, Peugeot tell they enter WRX and E-WRX for their growth plans outside Europe and their orientation towards electric cars in the 2020's. The author of the article points out that they don't mention the 5 Billion € fine and the cost of the acquisition of Opel (around 1.7 Billion €).

Thing is, in WRX they only have to offer funding, they don't build the car, Hansen does, they don't run it, he does, they don't build the engines, Oreca do.
I imagine they will obviously be involved in the design and build in some ways, but I doubt that Hansen picks up a Peugeot blueprint and simply toddles off and builds it, they will collaborate. And use Peugeots Sport knowledge and experience. So all they are doing is providing cash for the program, and that will largely also be bolstered by Loeb and his Red Bull backing. |

Ever since the first "Vision GT" I've disliked those concepts... if you can call them concepts at all. People and particularly "gamers" drool over those without realizing it is quite a diferent thing to make a race car that exists only virtually and the performance numbers are basically fiction.

That's different. These Vision GT cars and other concepts (the Red Bull/Adrian Newey one) they've asked are purely made for the game without any intention to ever build them in real life.

Peugeot 908 Suspension
I've been amazed at the suspension of the 908. Saw it for several years at the Petit and the way that it could go over a curb at speed and keeping the car level and balanced was impressive.
Here are a couple of photos I shot in 2011. In the first, everything is 'normal'. In the 2nd photo, the 908 came flying down the short straight between 5 and 6 and ran up on a back-marker and had to stomp on the brakes! What I saw was the front end squat down with the front tires pointing outwards like a snowskier trying to scrub speed. What I thought I saw was the car bending in the middle and the rear tires taking on an interesting angle. It may be an optical illusion but I think I witnessed technological magic. |

There were two 908s at Brands Hatch this past weekend in the 'Endurance Legends' race. Very impressive around the GP Loop - quicker than the historic Formula 1 cars. Really good to see the cars out and being driven hard (one did have an off on Saturday but was back out on Sunday).

Motor Sport's peddler-in-chief Dickie Meaden drove it earlier this month so I'm guessing we'll see a story in next month's issue.
