That would be cool if they could run at 750kg, but they'll ballast it to the minimum weight which is currently 830kg.

Ah right, I misunderstood, still, 830kg and more power than the P2 should at least give them a decent pace advantage over that class so we don't see the mess that is Kolles.

The last LMP cars that I know of that were 750KG or less unballasted where the 2012/2013 and later Audi R18s, and the LMP1 wolf in LMP2 sheep's clothing that was the Porsche RS Spyder (750kg was LMP2 minimum at the time, and was the only car to meet that with ballast). Also most LMP675s that were purpose built for those regs were down to below 700kg with ballast, which of course is part of the reason they were so fragile.

I know that the Toyota LMP1s and the Porsche 919s are obviously ballasted to meet 875kg, but I doubt that they're 750kg unladen. Also, LMPs are weighed without drivers or fuel onboard.

Still not enough info yet but that cost definitely caught my interest so I'm keen to know all the details which that cost accounts for.

I am also curious as to what this engine package includes for the quoted price?

All the race season rebuilds, testing mileage to a limit, a spare engine with the team (absolute essential one would think)?

There was some mention that this engine will be exclusive to Ginetta? Wonderful idea for Ginetta, but not so wonderful for Meccachrome if they don't sell any cars. I can see that becoming non exclusive very quickly then

Yeah, I asked the question about the exclusivity in the Friday press conference and they appeared rather set on this being a Ginetta-only deal.

The LMP2 chassis cost cap is €483000.

http://www.europeanlemansseries.com/...rent-classes/4

And the Gibson costs €1250 per hour to run, whatever that means.

For the old regulations you can outright buy the engines for €86778 and have them rebuilt for €40500, but practically speaking everyone was leasing them anyways which is €1402/hour.

“We then have to find out how much fuel flow we’ll get but with already 100 hp more than an LMP2 and with more advanced aero in a car that is 100 kg lighter we know that it is going to be rather faster than 3:25 at Le Mans!

“At the moment we have more serious interest than we will have cars available. The plan is for 10 chassis: A development car, we hope three teams of two race cars each and a spare tub for each of those teams.

CLM nismo engine should push not less than 650hp, considering that it was able to hit 3:24 without any real aero development; guess that with the same power and a much better developed aero (+ michelin tyres pheraps) 3:22 shouldn't be an issues.

Considering also that next year, very likely lmp2 will be able to set 3:24 at least.

Let's see if this ginetta lmp1 will be in grid for real next season

I thought Sam Collins said the CLM Nismo engine was at 600hp due to the fuel flow, but capable of 700.

being a V6 twin turbo, it could push up to 1000hp with an insane turbo pressure boost.
Anyway, CLM aero development is quite poor, so I guess it produces a lot of drag and a laughable downforce. Anyway the car managed to hit 340km/h at le mans and was the highest top speed car at spa too.
Considering that the car should have >100kg/h fuel flows, the real power output could be really over 600hp. Won't be surprised if has >750Nm as torque peak, being nismo gt-r engine revlimit set to 6500rpm if 2015 memory help me.

BTW, over 700Nm, >600hp @6500rpm... these remind me the DBR9 V12 figures....

That was it. Seems like a no brainer (from a fan point of view) to give it a bit more fuel to bring it up to around 700.
