That's not exactly correct. While Sprint has acquired NEXTEL, the NASCAR series will retain its name at least through 2006, and apparently the company will retain and use the NEXTEL name for product line(s). From the Sprint site:

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series ™
The new company will be committed to its partnership with NASCAR and its more than 75 million fans. The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series™ will maintain its current series branding through 2006, and decisions regarding the series name and branding beyond that season are expected to be made prior to the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season opener in 2006.

Tenoch,

As I understand the release, the Sprint/NEXTEL sponsorship of NASCAR will continue for the duration of the contact (2010? not sure). In 2006 it will be the NEXTEL Cup, and may continue under that name for the balance of the agreement depending on the decision made early next year.

Is it still known as Nextel in Mexico? Or is known as Sprint Nextel like here in the US? And for that matter, is Nextel Mexico a separate division?
