As Peter S mentions above there is a propsed clubmans championship for next year - this should reduce the number of stock hatch drivers at the MSA meetings.

I know the stock hatch and junior minicross categories aren't as exciting as the modified and supercars but they are an essential entry point to the sport for future modified and supercar drivers.

Having said that some of the stock hatch races are superb - there's just too many of them at a meeting. I'd rather the numbers were limited and an extra round of heats was run - that way you'd get the same amount of racing during the day but there would be more of a balance between the categories.

Before anyone says anything I didn't ignore minicross on purpose in the above post - I was just being thick and didn't mention it.

Peter S should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I think the main area for concern at the minute is the decline of the modified class. Efforts are being made to try and boost then numbers in this class. The stock hatch class in a way "props" up the modified and supercar classes as this makes the event commerically viable to the organizers so all funds and costs can be covered. If there was enough cars then perhaps they would reconsider the stance. Again some of the cars are "cannon fodder" in the championship but again it is about numbers at the moment. There are rumored to be 26-30 modified cars sitting in garages and if these drivers get the cars out on track along with addtional entrys then the stock hatch entry would probably be limited. Also this will give drivers more track time in the process and more value for the money hence creating more comerical and media opportunitys.
