Gary Clarke has got that one correct. The other Bentley is Kirk Rylands 3-41/2. (Three-Four & Half) JR will be able to identify the Talbots |

Stunning car - there are not many coupes of that era that float my boat but the early Jaguars and Bentley's seem to hit the spot - great shame market prices seem to show I am not alone in that view!

What are replicas usually based on, Sports Saloons?
Some of the 105 Sports Saloons are also very handsome especially James Young bodied or "Airline" models. Would be a shame if they all get cut up into team-style cars though the temptation is understandable. |

Talbots: Replicas can be based on any 105.The chassis/engine is common to all types.Only bodies different.
They are usually based on an old brown dog eared logbook that has been hoarded and most or all bits are new. They should have iron engines and always iron heads but they don't. Not many Saloons and Tourers butchered these days.A replica that is a good copy of real thing is going to cost you approaching 200K. Understand there is a very real 105 Works Car (there are only seven of which two are iffy) for sale at 900K.Must start saving! Not much point in messing with 110's as there were only tourers and saloons. Wonder who Smokystove really is?I am a cynic! |

Ah, I'd mistakenly thought that the chassis were shortened on the team cars so would also need be on the replicas.
Nothing to be cynical about, Smokystove is just a guy named S. Earl Harvin who spends way too much time amassing information about cars he can't afford and messing about with ones he can barely afford. Also a musician so not very hard to find out about if you're really that curious which I doubt! It's pretty uninteresting really. |

No I am interested as yours were some of the most serious questions asked about Talbot's that I can remember so am impressed.
More than welcome to come and see us at LMC. Interesting that someone is selling a 110 Talbot Alpine.Have no idea what one of those are. |

Managed to get the 1934 cars as well. Didn't Octane magazine do a feature on the Talbot's a year or two ago?

Mick Walsh in C & SC did a good one April 2010 ago featuring the works cars.
The Octane article was probably five years ago with a couple of replicas.Robert Coucher was the man. |

Outside chance I might pay a visit to Sebring as well - we will be travelling between Orlando and Key Largo that weekend so timing not ideal but might try and work something out. |

I still cherish the memory of Gareth Burnett taking me out on the local roads in one of John's 105s. Unforgettable; wonderful!
Might copy some of this across to the Talbot Chassis archive thread! |
