Much better Group C grid than I expected, good variety and drivers. 40 minutes x 2 is quite a big ask so fingers crossed for Sunday.

The 80 minute race for 5 GT40's is a bit excessive.

Same problem this year as we have always had with this event. Too few races strung out over 2 days. Sunday will consist of 3 races, saloon race is good but then walking wounded from grp C race and 3 hour race for GT's ?
Too expensive and over hyped. |

I'm going but with some trepidation , as nearly every Donington so called Festival has left me disappointed , with sparsely contested races and qualifying sessions strung out far too long . There's some stuff I will love , and that is why I am going, but the inconvenient truth is that an HSCC or (especially) a CSCC event is far more entertaining .

Our very own Delta is running in the 3 hours with Dr Bob, in the Elite.
Good luck boys. |

Thought there was a Pre war Sports Car race on Sunday.
That makes four races at least! |

In the ideal world the this event and the Masters event two weeks prior should be amalgamated then it would be a proper festival. I've voted with my feet for this one.

This event seems to have lost some of it's lustre - a bit like the Oulton Park Gold Cup. It will be interesting to see if this year's "best of" for the Gold Cup weekend provides a way forward. |

John, I did happen to look on the www.historicmotorsport.tv website as they ran last years live stream of the event. Their website is there, but sadly, although under the heading "Up coming programmes":they show Donington Historic Festival Live Stream, sadly I noticed the date shown is May 1 & 2 which AFAIK was last years event. Im a subscriber to their channel but not heard anything from them for ages so presume they are no more. So I just rang "Donington Historic" on the 'phone number for enquiries shown on their website, from downtown Melbourne, to ask if any live stream was happening as last year..... Sadly their answer was no live stream this year, although apparently a live audio commentary will be available via TSL live timing website. I havent looked on TSL yet but the indication was there would be a link or something to the audio under the Donington Historic heading on the TSL website. |

Ah bummer. Got things to do. I'd rather watch pre War than interminable 50s/60s stuff.
I've an eclectic choice in cars - pre War and 70s onwards. Stuff in between doesn't float my boat, maybe because it's the "staple" of classic racing. And just for clarification given my screen name, my MG of choice would be a '73 RWA Midget or a similar year honeycomb grille BGT. I even look fondly on the rubber bumper cars!
