Will Power is due a penalty jackman let the car down before the wheel not was on. Crew member signaled and was ignored, almost took his hand off

Awesome shot with the freighter going down the river in the background.
Sucks for Power, wheel issue costs them. Was thinking Andretti would have come out better, but Newgarden hit the pits as the caution came out. |

Looks like Dixon is in the tyre wall.

just less than 10 minutes to go, and they go away on an ad break. How cool is that.

But they said it will be coverage until the end, that's 7 whole minutes of coverage. What a bonus.
It feels like the end of the IMSA race, 2 cars running away from everyone. It looks like Newgarden has the car to keep Rossi at bay |

Penske wins again, think that's 5 in a row in IMSA and Indy cars, Indy GP, Mid-Ohio, Indy 500, Detroit IMSA and Detroit Indy race 1. Hire the best drivers, mechanics, strategy and you see the results.

Newgarden got lucky pitting just before a yellow, and then Rossi could never get on par with him.
The damp track didn't prevent Power and Sato from overtaking left and right. - o - Quote:

I thought there were similarities to the imsa race too. Boatloads of yellow running makes you think a tight finish is coming, then boom. 2 guys separate themselves.

Only early, they didn't get around many later without taking a risk neither leader would try. Sato came within inches of taking out half the field if Rosenqvist hadn't given up the corner. And no one could get around Sato late even though the line behind him kept getting longer each lap.

Just got home. Man, I am kicking myself for not going the last few years. Was a great day. They actually kept saying we had to evacuate the island because of severe weather and there was a tornado warning nearby. But not many fans listened to the evacuate thing lol. Just hung out under the awning at the casino and waited it out. This being my first street race (and first Indy race, as my previous races have been imsa), I was expecting to not have much view. But the are plenty of viewing areas and you can get a lot closer to the track than I expected. Turns 7-8-9, which is a "slow" section looks so much better in person. Tv does not do it justice seeing them go through a section that looks way too small for the cars.
Caught on quickly that andretti was first to take slicks, as he was spinning tires out of the corner and real slow. Caution saved him from being lapped. The speed going down the straight heading toward turn 7 was stunning. The walls must have made the sense of speed more impressive. Got to meet pagenaud after the race. Was really cool. Good "championship day" for him, getting good points even though he wasn't a factor up front. Think he started 12th, so 6th was good result. Sato looked racy at times. No clue how Rossi and newgarden checked out so much at the end. Couldn't figure out why power was so far back, I see why now. What was weird was that at the end, he was in 19th, and couldn't even keep up with 18th place. I guess maybe something wasn't right after the poor stop? I am already planning to go back next year. Such a cool event. |

Pretty sure that Veach was credited with the most passes (10), mainly due to his first lap incident which put him back among slower cars. He did a good job to recover his 8th place starting position at the end. Drivers who advanced the most positions were Pagenaud and Pigot (7), followed by Sato and Kanaan (6), Bourdais (5), and Rahal (4). Lots of potential with the weather today to really shake up the points, but in the end it only solidified Josef, Rossi, and Pagenaud at the top, with Sato moving up a couple of spots due to Dixon's DNF. Dixon remains 5th but 92 points behind Newgarden. I can't see the championship going to anyone outside the top 5 at this point, and Dixon is a marginal candidate even given his ability to consistently finish top 5 or better. |

Never discount Dixon - but Ganassi needs to get on top of the issues they have sooner rather than later.
