A Dauer 962 ran some races in belcar ('99?). I seem to remember it taking a pole with a bent engine and broken turbo... I never liked the Dauer much, but I loved it's fire-breathing sound. I think it was the only group C-ish car that I ever saw in action.

Are you sure it's a Dauer 962? I got some pics from a Belgian photographer and it look just like a standard short tail 962...is it the one painted white with light blue stripes and Siemens sponsorship?

No not sure. You seem to be right on the livery. I still think it had something to do with Dauer... Can you show us some pics?

Most entry lists/results on the net list it as AD Sport Dauer 962 LM.
Can't find any pics.

Dauer did run standard 962C's too . Maybe its one of those ? I dont ever remember a 962GT racing any other place but Le Mans .

1999 Belcar (Dauer Porsche 962 LM - AD Sport)

Thats all I can find about this topic . I believe its a misprint ! Its on Bert Longin's portfolio in the FiaGt drivers portfolio's !

Found the pics, confirm it's a standard 962, with a scoop a la IMSA 962(monoturbo), I'll put one pic online this evening, it's not mine, so I'll credit it to the author, hoping not to upset him....

It must be an Imsa car then , cuz no 962C had them . Maybe it was historic racing ?

NO, it wasn't historic racing, I remember the reports from Autosport about that, and also some infos the photographer gave to me, and I think it wasn't an IMSA car, other parts were surely Group C, only that scoop can be read as IMSA....

I know Dauer ran two cars at Daytona in 1991. Wish my scanner worked as I'd post the images. Though both were 962Cs (two turbo scoops). One black (#00) and one white (#0). The black car was for the Andretti family (Michael, Mario, Marino, Jeff), the white, the Unsers ((Al Jr., Al Sr., Bobby, Robby).

Here they are:

the bodywork is similar to the one used by Schuppan in 1991 (for the car raced at Silverstone and Le Mans, not the Max Boxstrom one):

There's an interesting piece on Mulsanne's site about a Ryan Falconer V12-engined 962...

Your right , it does look like an imsa car . I wonder what chassis number that car is . Those snorkel looking ducts on the Dauer and Joest cars are brake cooling ducts , i think !

Was Bert Longin one of the drivers of the Belcar 962? Given the Siemens sponsorship and what I can make out from the names in the picture, it seems possible.

Ive started putting together a list of chassis numbers and build dates and victories . one thing ive just noticed is that some of the chassis were not built in sequence ! It might take awhile to get this list together but when i get it finished i will put it on the thread .

Cool!

I have some kind of list with chassis numbers that appeared in Belgian Autokrant *several* years ago.
For some chassis numbers it seems almost complete, for others there's hardly any data.

IIRC - there's a year and month for the construction date for most of them too...

The car was driven by Albert Vanierschot and Bert Longin
