WOW !You make Canada sound like one big "hick town". In the US we have cars and roads to get to the races .We have cops to deal with the traffic and everything.

Canada is more like Europe than it is like the USA. In fact, Canada is more like the rest of the world than is the USA. So our solutions are more European than they are American, which is one of the reasons I moved here.
The BIG problem which absolutely no one in the United States appears to have caught onto is that NOT EVERYONE WHO LIVES IN EITHER THE UNITED STATES OR CANADA CAN DRIVE OR HAS ACCESS TO AN AUTOMOBILE. This may be for many differnt reasons (in my case it is because I can't see well enough to drive any more) but it is absolutely infuriating to hear that same song again and again, that everything should be arranged only for the benefit of people who have and can drive automobiles. If we can get 170,000 people to a street race without the benefit of driving there in automobiles, what in the hell is the problem with that? |

Racing is just like tasting fine wines. Each has its own distinct flavor and character.
But if you really like MD 20/20, nothing else will taste quite as good. |

Absolutely right Redneck, and my preference would be for the street races. Although when I say the street race, I mean everything that is involved in races like Long Beach and Molson Indy. The parties, the clubs, the dislays and shows around town all add to the experience. Not to mention the fact that you can get to the circuit in a timely fashion on a Subway, bus or streetcar! No driving, no parking, no cars! magnificent! If you prefer driving an hour to the track, pitching a tent and camping out in the cold, playing cards between sessions and going to bed at 8 oclock everynight because there is nothing else to do, then you may prefer the course int he middle of nowhere... Problem is, in most places Cart is, there aren't enough people that crazy about racing to put up with it all... Last edited by Jay; 29 Jul 2001 at 14:58. |
