Excellent - this close season is going to be the defining one for the IPS series by the look of it. If a dominant champion like Alex (I'm assuming here but not one of you will bet against it I'm sure) can't get a ride in the IRL then the IPS truly is pointless and might as well shut up shop.
Personally, I'm hoping that some team or other will see sense, although as of right now I can't imagine which that team might be. |

Yes i think your absolutly right. It's def put up or shut up time for Indy in respect of the Indy pro series. Can't claim your the fast track when your not. I think if at least one person does not get a chance next year in Indy Car then entries will decline. I suspecy Alex and Mutoh are the best possibilities. Alex for obvious reasons and Mutoh because of his connections with Honda.

Alex Lloyd is pretty much a lock to drive at Chicagoland (and I've also heard Detroit knocked around) for Roth, who recently bought Sam Schmidt's IndyCar operation.
I'm also 90% sure Mutoh will be in the #55 indycar next year. |

AFS looked to have a good set up on both Friday and yesterday, Wade exploited it to the full. Looked like neither Mutoh or Lloyd had enough performance to offer a challenge. Will be interesting to see if any overnight set up changes make a difference today. Reverse grid of course today.

One or two big crashes there. Quite a few of these guys apear to struggle to stay on track on the Oval's. I think there is quite a bit of red mist out there in the mid field. They should be a little more circumspect as there has already been one very nasty accident this year.
Nice run by Logan Gomez to. |

132 point lead with 5 rounds to go. It's not in the bag yet but one more win should nearly do it.

"Lloyd's too good for DNFs"
Didn't stop him having 2 in the last 2 races! Nothing's certain in motorsport, I guess. But with Mutoh doing Chicago in the big cars, I can't see it is possible to catch him realistically. Cunningham is 166 points behind with 4 races to go - he's had 1 win, Lloyd has had 7 ... it would take 4 more DNFs and Cunningham would have to win all 4 races |

What next, Jinxx? I heard Marty Roth gave you or is going to give the boy a go maybe even in 2007?
Hopefully he'll get one of empty slots in TCGR (if Dan will move) or Team Penske?! |

I love the sound of the IPS cars, however I must admit the Champ Car Atlantic Championship gets more of my focus. It is good, however, to see consistently large fields in the IPS. I heard rumors as late as last year saying that Tony et al were going to let the Pro Series die and try to extract talent for their series from the Atlantics. It's good to see that 2/4 of the big U.S. open-wheel racing series are starting to flourish in IPS and CCA.

With the cost of competing in European and British senior championships being so high i would expect both Champcar Atlantics and the Indy Pro Series to benefit from more drivers crossing to the US to try to further their careers.

I think the Pro series and the Indycar series are both stronger than their counterparts, and give more varied racing. The Atlantics are far more basic cars, and less powerful, and will therefore be cheaper, but my view is that the Pro series is moving from strength to strength
On the other hand, I don't like the sound of the Pro cars - I;d rather hear them pulling 8-9,000 revs ... they sound like they are only pulling about 3,000 |
