Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Matt Jackson is still considering entering the race, however it's looking unlikely.

Why would that be? It's a shame. I think in the independents-trophy Turkington would be a contender for a win, which I don't think he is in the overall classification.

Turkington is definitely a contender for an overall win....they wouldn't be bothering otherwise.

Good question. They had been getting some assistance from BMW, but that was no more than would have been available to anyone else who wanted to pay for it and not enough to lose BTCC independent status.

WTCC does have the odd quirk over indie status, remember GR Asia/Tom Coronel. Maybe they though the combination of Turkington and WSR similarly fell outside the indie guidelines.

Tough to predict how well Turkington will do. He's always done well at Brands, although that's never been on the GP layout. WSR have no experience of Advan tyres but I would assume (hope) they will get some data/help from BMW.

Maybe the tyre data is what takes them out of Independent status?

BTCC uses Dunlop instead of Yokohama so IMO there's no advantage for him.

Boots would be referring to the though that perhaps BMW will give them a helping hand with tyre info.

I read somewhere that they had been testing at Snetterton with the Advans?

Or maybe the FIA thinks that WSR will be much better than the indies and doesn't want them to take points away from the regulars. Their definition of who is an independent and who is not is very lax.

No reason for them to care - not as though they're going to do anything about an independant title in just two races.

Maybe, but the money to be won by the best independent could be a nice bonus.

So how many laps is it of the GP circuit this weekend, 2, 3?

The short races really are beginning to grate on me.

1 race is about 50km. I believe that Brands GP is about 3,7km? So 14-15 laps

15 probably. I mean, isn't Valencia longer? I don't have an issue with the current race lengths, although I am partial to a BTCC style 3 race setup.

To answer my own question from earlier, it's not that Turkington classified as an independent, isn't eligible to score ANY points at Brands. The car is running with an X-Trac sequential gearbox, which means it runs under local homologation rules, which in turns means no points.

Also Sergey Krylov is a late replacement for Timur Sadredinov in the third GR Asia car. Sadredinov had what was described as a "trivial passport problem".

Like Rosenberg (I assume it's the same car as Turkington) and Dahlgren.

It's not Rosenblad's car. Carl's car was 2006 spec, CT's is 2007 spec

Ouch, Thommo and Turkington top the time sheets in first practice - could be time for the old guard

Krylov's 5s slower than the car in front of him...surely GR Asia could pull off a better last minute replacement?

Thommo again in practice 2, from Corthals

(Fixed from earlier - lazy timing screen)
