bartman71 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
if it is a street race where would it be held?
a few years ago a race was talked about around Salamanca in hobart.
at risk of upsetting the hobart people i would suggest it be held in launceston.
a couple of reasons for this are
1: more central location in relation to the rest of the state
2: less greenies to try and stop it

i wouldn't care if it was held down in Queenstown i still would go

TC just said on the local news that he would love to return to tassie as it is a very nice place.

intresting that he didn't say that on superstars a few weeks ago i wonder what changed his mind?
maybe some money from the tassie government

Ok so now they have to race in Canberra as well. Drop the O/S rounds and be a proper whole Australian series.

Last night was the first time that I have heard TC say anything positive about Tasmania I have a funny feeling he may like our Governments money.I wonder if romurs of track extensions at Symmons are part of the deal.I had Heard full resurface completed, pit area and a track extension half way through the sweeper, intresting times ahead.

Bartman were in Launceston would you hold a street circuit the only place I can think is along Godrick st out to bottom of Mowbray hill into Invermay road down to Forster st down Holbrook st and into Lindsay st the pits could be set up on the north bound lane of godrrick st and all houses in the bac of Invermay could be accessed by going through Inveresk.Your thoughts

was talking about this with some work mates today and what you said wa discussed. but using invermay rd down past york park (could use this as i pit paddock) but not using godrick st.
the other options could be around racecourse cresent area (name suits) using K-mart carpark or NTCA Ground as pit areas.
and another which i liked was west tamar highway up forest rd left in to Bain Terace Left in to Trevallyn rd across Kings Bridge Right in to Margerat st And right back out the highway. This one would never happen because of a lot of reasons but would be awsome as they would race past my parents house

You go up the hill past the water tank, hang a left under the Viaduct, over the the bridge, turn right at pub corner, go up Tannery straight, hang a right, go over the long bridge, right a Newry corner onto the flying mile, right at Mountford corner and back up to the water tank!

This Symmonds Plains thing was discussed by the drivers at the press conference on Sunday - thats probably why there is a lot of publicity - but they also spoke about going back to PI.
The subject of increasing the number of rounds also came up but was kybwashed by the drivers as being to expensive.(mainly murph)
Fingers xxxx for Tassie!

Looks like Symmons Plains gets the nod and it could be a 5 year deal,
Not all improvements will be done in the first year

I cant believe they are going to choose an inferior track in Symons Plains over PI....yes I know Tassie needs a round but it place needs upgrades a plenty.

PI has all the structure in place....the 2nd best track in Australia not being used is just plain stupid.

I am all for Tassie having a round before you start bashing me....but prehaps Konica this year @ SP would have been good for a 'trial run'

The difference is that both Saint Kilda and the Hawks give back to the community where Avesco aren't interested.

It really isn't the Government place to secure something like this when Tony Cockhead can't give long term commitments.

Back then the Government was prepared to spend additional (to the $500000 on the com box and surround) provided a long term deal could be struck. Tony’s reply was they couldn’t do that because a better offer could be forth coming.

The trial run has been in the shape of Procar. Those events attract the bigger crowds then the mainland.

I agree with the PI thoughts but each state should have one round at least. It’s probably up to Victoria to nominate one track. Eastern creak shouldn't have two rounds and yes Symmons needs up grades. We have a club meeting there in a couple of weeks and I am sure if this goes ahead the club will only be too pleased to lend a hand if required.

I doubt whether Procar had a bigger turnout @ SP compated to Winton over the last couple of years....PI for sure when Stewie McColl died...there was hardly anybody there....as for Winton though I have never been to SP the local community (Benalla, Shepparton & Wangaratta) will turn up to a billy cart race @ Winton I am sure SP has the same support

and Symmons Plains historically was the biggest attended sporting event in the state.

I have a lot of Tasmanian family, and starved of recent racing turned out in large members. The name Peter Brock on the side of one car certainly didn't hurt the attendance.

But I couldn't say how many turned out at PROCAR Winton.

Hey Morris,
How do you think the V8SCs will handle the railway crossing ?

(Proposed 2005 V8SC schedule:
Amaroo Park, Bunbury, Catalina Park, Hume Weir, Lowood, Longford, Lobethal, Mt Druitt, Surfers Paradise International Raceway, Warwick Farm, Woodside)

I dont think you would of got a very big crowd with the Konicas as down here the general public have no idea what Konicas are.I was always scared that Avesco would send the Konicas down here first as I believe it would of sent the wrong idea back to Avesco, the real Motorsport fans would of went but the main v8s seem to reach people down here that would not turn around to watch normal motor racing.Little birdie says if you wanted to see some v8 drivers tommorow Hobart would be a good place to be.
