I'm guessing it's a typo! I would love to watch this series, so I'm going to send an e-mail to Speed TV and TSN over here, maybe get someone looking into it. Motorsport fans everywhere would watch it. It would be tremendously competitive, I think. |

Nope, it wasn't a typo.
I will watch it and am thoroughly looking forward to the prospect. What I was saying was that I will be watching for entertainmnent, NOT because I think it will the best racing series in the world ever. Last edited by Dutton; 4 Nov 2004 at 18:57. |

Luke - it's planned to be a series of 4 or 5 races.

Just had a peek at their website and one of the tracks mentioned is the GP circuit at Brands Hatch - count me in for that.
I really hope that this series does actually happen. |

Brands Hatch GP would be mega, a possible support race at the Monaco GP? now that would be great.
I have a gut feeling of Zanvoort and Brno. |

Well Big Mac, you are assuming that would actually be possible to quantify. It really wouldn't, in my opinion.

It will be nice if this series comes off. However, I do have a few reservations. If it does happen, I hope the racing is good, rather than just demonstration races. I've always felt it's best to stay retired if and when you retire e.g. Alan Jones' return with Haas was a poor shadow of his former glories, and we're now 20 years further on.

It hinges on funding. I'm not sure what brand names would want to fund a very expensive series for drivers who aren't household names. (After all, most current F1 fans won't have heard of Danner or Johansson).
Unless Saga come up with a big paycheck, I can't see this happening. There are plenty of other places where a former driver could come out and drive...... Historics, Thoroughbred F1, EuroBOSS, a Sauber, GT racing, celeb cars. |

It could well be part of some grander corporation plan, they have quite disturbing visions at times.
Anwway, in reference to this isolated case: I think all those taking part will give it a good try, they remain competitive people. If it doesn't occur, it would be a shame but life would go on. I'd like to see it, would be interesting. |

Somewhere on the web today is an announcement of a year's delay due to funding issues.....presumably file this series away with that funny football series that remains pending finance despite all the interest shown

I think the fact that A1GP is a winter series has scuppered these plans - probably for the best.
