Aslak Vind should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Still cant get past the fact, that Porsche could have no Spyders at Le Mans 2009. Something must be wrong with their businessplan regarding this project, apart from the fact that money is hard sought after these days..

We had no RS Spyders in 2007. Le Mans was never really in their business project.

Agreed, but Porsche runs customerprograms to pay for their factoryprograms. So after investing in pushing the products to the clients, all the cars seems now up for sale.

That cant be a good investment, no matter how they knitted together their businessplan?

I know, that the RS program is excessively expensive. But still..

without sounding too rude, and although i do love the Porsche RS Spyder's, Porche with regards to LeMans, have proved what they had to, 1st and 2nd in LMP2, Porsche didnt so much win LMP2 at LM but dominate it, Porsche never intended to take the RS Spyder to LM, when they did they blew the opposition out of the water, this i think Porsche feel now is finished business.

Im sure Horag will be there , as they are looking for a pay driver , and a decent car with an entry is a rather large carrot to dangle .

Yes I was wary about that one. Having an updated RS with the DI lump should be too good an offer to pass.

Will they be able to have a Porsche factory driver ?

Theys... Interesting..

It seems to me, that the RS cars of 2008 will stay in the hangar. Sadly, but I doubt that many potential buyers will have the cash for them, AND the overpriced support.

Horag has Freddy Lienhard's RS Spyder lend for a year, and they just need a paying pilot, so... don´t be so pessimistic about it!

Good news, please dont get me wrong. I am honestly hoping to see the Spyders stretching their legs. Horag have earned the right to show of, and if they are the only RS, LM 09 could be interesting

Will it be updated to 08 ALMS factoryspec?

- I assume that there is no such thing as 2009 spec RS Spyder?

I wouldn't bet on it... if they get the driver with the funds they need, it will be to pay the regular bills... not to upgrade the car!

Who in their right mind would buy a RS Spyder now?

Unless you are a new arrival from Mars, you wouldent buy a car which will not be developed by the factory no more...?!

You would think that those with the car but not the funds to race it would want to sell it for a cheaper price to get some of their money back (unless they were a collector that is). The price of factory support is another question...........

A collector. In fact that - not someone to race it - is the primary market for all race cars, and why they gain value with wins, especially in "majors."

One of the first things I learned in researching "The Cost of Racing" at Last Turn Clubhouse.

Next years LMP2 winner ..... I still feel that even if it will be a 2008 spec in 2009 , it will still be a handful to beat , if driven by decent drivers .

And I still reckon its the best and will be the most consistant LMP2 car out there for 2009 LMS .

It has the obvious advantage of being a very well known, and very well proven, quantity too.

It isn't like there would be a bunch of nasty surprises and/or kinks to be worked out.

Anyone who wants to win in the next year, probably two.

The Spyder is years ahead of the Lola in terms of pace and reliability.

Speedy Sebah is not a top LMP2 team... and the Lolas B05 where indeed inferior to Porsche. Lets see what happens this year is the some Porsches make the LMS. And don´t forget Zytek. They have the pace, but not the reliability... let´s seem what comes out of the new e volution of thye Zytet 07s, the 09s, that ASM is going to use.

Not just yet. This thread is specifically about auto-invites. Discussion should therefore be limited to just that. Speculation about who else might drop in on La Sarthe next June belongs in the slightly more speculative thread.... for the moment. Discipline, people.......

Well only 15 of the 29 auto invites were taken up ( here ). Deadline for application entry has passed as of the 21st at midnight. So we should find out who the other 40, to be invited to participate, are in the coming weeks.
