ALPINA will not participate with a factory team in the championship this year:

http://gt3europe.com/newsitem.php?key=630
http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/fi...1_EN_press.pdf

Cars available for customer teams.

And it's transversal to all championships. The GT3 site filters the press release but the official one says:
Quote:
Interested teams which like to run a new or used BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 Evo 2011 in the ADAC GT Masters, the FIA GT3 European Championship or the Endurance Races VLN at the Nürburgring, are asked to contact ALPINA, Mr. Kiran Hörth
(k.hoerth@alpina.de).
Bit of a shame really, but I hope there's some people out there interested in running the car somewhere.

Engstler Motorsport will campaign at least one Alpina in the ADAC GT Masters. Alpina has also entered two cars for 24 hours Spa.

I thought Alpina stopped their own team already over a year ago and last year only some client teams were running those cars in 2010, so there's nothing new to me in that news bit.

Last year s-Berg Racing entered two Alpina's in GT Masters. They entered one Alpina in a few European rounds. Besides s-Berg there were no teams racing with Alpina.

Well hopefully someone enters one of those big Alpinas in GT3 or Blancpain, those cars had a character of their own.

Some more news for 2011:

- WRT Racing 2 Audi R8s, along with their efforts in the Blancpain Endurance series: http://gt3europe.com/newsitem.php?key=633

- Prospeed with a Porsche: http://gt3europe.com/newsitem.php?key=632
Defending champions but last year they had Marco Holzer. He won't be back, and it will be Paul van Splunteren with Maxime Soulet.

Since I can't edit my post anymore, just to add, DSC also has the news including nice renditions of the liveries for the 2 Prospeed Porsches. They look mighty fine.

DSC and Planet Le Mans report 2 news bits:

- Graff Racing has confirmed their 2 lineups for the Mercedes SLS:

Philippe Giauque will join Mike Parisy and Joakim Lambotte will get Gary Hirsch on his side.

- AF Corse will return to GT3 with 2 458s:

One car for Daniel Brown and Glynn Gleddie and a second one for Federico Leo and Francesco Castellacci.

Planet Le Mans also reported that the W Racing Team Audi R8 will be driven by Enzo Ide and Greg Franchi

On April 7th and 8th there was GT3 testing at Paul Ricard, for both GT3 Europe and Endurance Blancpain but no news anywhere?

Looks mean! Don't mind the Z4.

Lets hope for another good season, and hopefully less cars written off

Ferrari 458 GT3 testing at Interlagos. Looks nice. I wonder why the decision was taken to go with that rear wing mounting point.

Seriously looking forward to GT3 this year. With so many different makes and models of cars on the grid, we should have some some brilliant racing. Quick question. Will the GT3 races be broadcasted live on the internet like the GT1 is? I hope so, otherwise I have no way of following the series.

Any pics of Vitaphone cars floating around or was it a closed test?

It will interesting to see how the new cars stack up against each other.

Unless SRO want to have a 2 make championship next year, that pretty much is THE new 2012 FIA-GT World Championship car

Seeing as though Ratel sees all future GT1 cars coming from the GT3 ranks, I would say its a good chance, although someone here did say Aston were building a new GT1, they didnt name their source though. ??
