Is it possible that in the future, Champ Car will start using multiple engines, chassis, and tires like in the past? It would be good to see several different manufacturer's get into the fight again...

Another thing i thought about was that if Allmendinger is leaving for NASCAR, which would leave no Americans, maybe Jimmy Vasser will get the hint and jump back in the car next season...

Alex Figge is an American for PCM & there are still rumours that Ryan Hunter-Reay is trying to get a ride for next year, possible with Gelles.

There is also a lot of rumours that Coyne will join with Stoddart, continuing to run Heylen with Muermans sponsorship. Other drivers in the frame fdor this ride are Patrick Friesacher, Ho-Pin Tung, Bas Leinders, Nicolas Kiesa & Zolst Baumgartner. Red Bull are looking quite likely to keep Doornbos in F1 next year, though just as a test driver for the main team.

There is also rumours that Forsythe is considering running a 4 car team if he can find a partner to run half the team with a bit of sponsorship to get this side of the team out of the Players deal which is still in place. Target are being linked with the team as they want to return to champcars, away from the IRL but Ganassi doesn't want to yet so they may try to run in both.

I read a recent interview with Kalkhoven in which he hinted that he'd like to see a cap of 24 cars on the grid (should the grid reach those kind of numbers, which I hope it does). Any thoughts on that? Personally I think having a cap is bad, at least a relatively low one such as 24.

I think 24 is fine for a cap. In fact I'd shudder to imagine the likely carnage running around somewhere like San Jose with, say, 30 cars going. Ok I'd prefer 26 to 24 but 24 is fine, as long as they are 24 solid teams who aren't going anywhere.

Gonna have to agree with Mystery...anything more than 24 is just a little overkill...

I will have to agree and disagree. On certain courses 24 should be a cap and on others courses the cap should change to a greater limit. I believe it should be done on a track basis. Fighting for spots on a grid will make each Friday and Saturday however even more fun.

Forsythe the other day was saying they would take 26 cars.

Why all the clamor for more cars? the only ones that count are the top three.
