François Ribeiro gave the series' management to a girl that knows as much of motorsports as I know about pies. Eurosport Events is hitching to fold the championship.
Often all it takes to find a new path is to make a sharp turn and see what you find. But beware. Sometimes what you’re faced with is a dead end. |

It just needs time to grow properly, a European FIA series for those cars should be a winner in time.

S1600 has always been a small and ageing pool of cars. With all that uncertainty over the fate of both ETCC and DTC over the winter, I guess teams and drivers for the most part just moved on to other cars, series or none-racing activities.
Maybe a few cars will come out to play later in the year. After all, the Monza event was confirmed on very short notice, leaving not much time to prepare an entry, which shouldn't be an issue for the rounds later this year. On the other hand, there isn't much of a point in entering if there are only very few S1600 cars, as getting passed by TCRs without having peopleto really fight against is probably not a lot of fun. I'm not terribly bullish on the future of ETCC as far as TCR is concerned either. The European TCR market is getting a bit crowded between Lotti's trophy thing (doesn't that involve doing all European rounds of the International series this year?) and Jesus Parejas' TC Open and I'm not sure ETCC has what it takes to come out on top between those three options. Worst case would - of course - be all three of them tagging along weak and undersubscribed. |

I can't see the ETCC or WTCC surviving past 2018, and I'd be surprised to see ETCC even being run next year. It's a rather sad state of affairs when two international series can only muster a combined entry of 27 cars.

And as for prestige, I'd rather win TCR International. There's far more quality in that series. TC Open remains to be seen, but I'd imagine it will be quite similar to ETCC. |

So If there would be only one international series, ETCC (or called anything) easily fit into the system as second tier. It should be a different series as now, or a part of the main series like the FIM Europe Supersport Cup. Imho, the touring car racing generally should be based one category. The bases of a top level and regional racing car should be the same, so if you want to step up one level, you shouldn't need to buy a completely new car (like now: yeeey, you win the ETCC - and if you want to race in the WTCC, you can drop your car to the wreckyard). The difference should be only some update (for example parts of the engine, or a more complex suspension with more possible settings or similar like that). But this is just my fantasy, I never had a race car, never had a race team, never maganed a series, it should be totally wrong |

Oops, I didn't realise they were on so early. No repeats at all though, which shows you where it stands. Virtually everything else on Eurosport is repeated for at least a week.

Id like of lotti gas bit of mercy to ribeiro and renounce at tcr europe to allow him and to etcc to have all cars of tcr europe into the etcc quite good championship. Anyway i hope that from next round there could enter some more cars. It would be nice if they car reach atleast 15 cars on grid

I'd rather see the Nordschleife, Monza, Vila Real, Termas, Motegi and Macau touring car races taken over by DTM.
