I only get an occasional stutter usually on leaving the pit garage.

Well for me its hopeless. I can only press one button on a menu if I'm lucky and it freezes. Worse still, I can't get out again. The only way of getting it out is to switch my pc off at the wall socket. I've done that 6-7 toimes now and I'm not about to do it any more.
I read on RSC about the freeze-ups and like others there, I'm not paying for this until its bug free for me. |

The demo was just a demo, the game itself has improved but its still got a few little things that need doing, such as the lag when someone joins an online race, so i read.
Still waiting for mine to arrive then i will be able to tell you more. This is the first game (SIM) where i have all the patches before i have even got the game Normally have to search them out to get the things going. Tyre wear is a big problem for some you cant drive it like GPL and expect the tyres to last. |

I'm just really disappointed. The two laps I (nearly) did at Spa in the Morgan were enough to convince me that it looks and drives well. But if I'd bought it and it wouldn't run properly, I'd be spitting some pretty foul feathers by now.....
The shame is, I suspect if I changed my vid card drivers it would help (as I'm running quite old 56.72s at the moment), but I'm not prepared to risk GPL's stability for it.... |

Ayse, you need to go to the GTR forum of RSC, and look in the 'technical' subforum - there's been a few with problems like yours, and it seems to be graphics card related or BIOS settings. It's fixable, and like I said, I'm sure someone had exactly the same problem.

Problem is Chris, they start asking question as a preamble, like "what's your BIOS?" or "what's your MB?" and although I'm not unfamiliar with these concepts, I don't actually know the answers.......

Okay Ayse, have a look at this thread: http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=185268
From what I can gather, I think the problem is with your video card drivers. You could try with some newer ones, and I don't think it should affect GPL too badly, but make sure you have a copy of the drivers you're using presently, so you can revert back. You could also try the Omega drivers. There's a link on that page I've mentioned above. It shouldn't be anything to do with your BIOS or motherboard, but there are ways of finding out what they are, and perhaps you should find out and write it down. One way is to open up the case and see what's written on the motherboard itself - usually the model number is in large font and you can look it up on Google if you're not completely sure.. If you don't want to crack open your case, you can reboot the machine, wait until the BIOS screen shows up (the first screen that shows, telling you what processor and memory you have) and press the 'pause' button on your keyboard. This should allow you time to write the numbers on the bottom of the screen down - these will tell you/others what your board is, and what revision of BIOS it is. Oh, press 'return' to cancel the 'pause' |

I confess Chris I lied a little.... I know my MB because I spent about a week trying to track down exactly what it was a while back, although the BIOS business leaves me a bit cold.
OK. I'm keen enough to try some new drivers, but the second they muck up GPL, GTR is going in the bin...... |

I didnt' experience any problems yet, but haven't tried the multiplayer. Have you? I should ahve a dedicated server up and running by end of this week and thought about trying to host some GT and NGT races to test the multiplayer code. mogwai |

Well, I'll play devil's advocate here. As someone whose demo version freezes every time, just be careful. You may have to make changes to your established set up (e.g. drivers) to get this game to work.

As much as i should like GTR, i found that i'm fighting the car just to be able to drive it at a reasonable pace. I couldnt get rid of the pogo'ing effect that happened down the main straight and which made braking horendous. So i just found it very frustrating, at least with the F1c mods i find i can at least enjoy driving the cars.

Sod it. I've had just about enough of GTR. I've spent all evening changing drivers (yes, even to the Omegas) and running it windowed, etc. etc. And when I finally thought I'd cracked it, 3 laps running beautifully in Arcade at Spa, I come out, run the replay and, yep, freeze.
I then try and run other than arcade and the thing dies on me immediately. When they bring out patches so that everyone can run GTR, then I'll think about buying it - or when I can figure out just what it is on my system that GTR doesn't like...... Signed seriously annoyed of Lymington Hants. |

The shame of it is that, to me, the few laps its let me do have felt great. With no adjustments at all, the two cars in the demo feel really good to me. (If anything - too easy to control, but then I'm used to GPL after all......). |

"the pogo'ing effect that happened down the main straight and which made braking horendous."
Are you talking about the bumps of the road surface? Those were all implemented using motec data from fia gt teams...maybe it's the head movement that's making it hard for you? |

You are aware of that you have to warm the brakes and tyres for two laps before they get up to temerature? Before that they are like driving on ice with...

Had a first online race last night at Brno 5 of us all running GT cars, 2 Lambos and 3 Ferraris.
Found my Fez a bit of a hand full first full running for me. The usual prob with this sim, lag when someone joins a practice session. Graphics wise no probs only slight warp every once in a while. But the curious thing is when i spun the yellow flags were waving at the posts in front of me Wished i had used a NGT car last night, in training i am much quicker in them than a GT car. But the full version is different and very much improved from the demo. I had much trouble before to get GPL working on my old computer, but I don't regret that I went the extra mile to get it working I might say... |

It just so much fun to drive online and it works really well. No problem with crashing in to each other due to lag when in the races even if there are many racing with not that good internet connections. Its really fun to drive races in the N-GT class as well. The only downside so far is that there are not that many serious simracers yet online, you have to look for servers with admins in it. Otherwise there are quite alot of wrecking in the first corner etc, but since where could you get completely rid of that in a racing game online... |

I am with a group in the UK called UKGTR and we are gathering people together to set up a league for online racing. As you will know we do not have an English version and we are experimenting with our servers in an effort to get it up and running.
We are an offshoot of UKGPL who have been running GPL for some time now. I am sure we would welcome you if you wished to join us. Pete |
