Quality game! I still have that, but to play it I'd have to set the Amiga up which is a mammoth task by any standards

It does run very nicely in an emulator. Look around for "Amiga In A Box" or WinUAE. And yes, Stunt Car Racer was one of the first things I had to get running in an emulator
Classic multiplayer there - only really matched for sheer fun on the Ami by 5-player Dynablaster (Bomberman) |

Is that the game where you supposedly race a motorbike through town and try to win but actually spend all your time trying to get the truncheon off the policeman?
If it is, then yeah, I'd love a modern version of that! |

There was a modern version made back in 1998: Road Rash 3D. It was very good.
They then made another version in 2000-ish, Road Rash: Jailbreak, which was awful. I had 3D and played jailbreak and they were unique in that they were totally free roaming games. You could start a race, find you were not doing well and drive off on a different route. The map was quite large taking in vast countryside and the odd town and village. It was quite refreshing actually! |

Stuntcar Racer for the Atari STE that was awesome!! oh and Supercars for the Atari as well, it was a top down racer-i guess it was the Need For Speed Underground of its day.Absolute classics! And although its not exactly old as such F1 '97 is IMO the best f1 game ever! Fantastic commentary from the great Murray Walker! Could you imagine if James Allen's commentary was used on a F1 game-i cringe at the thought!

I think they hired James already to do the commentary in F1'04...
Sounds like it anyways... |

Not a racing game but one of the best shooters ever made IMO.
Cabal! once again for the Amiga! Two player was just brilliant! No split screen all the action on one screen. Oh yeah and dont forget Speedball! Heard rumors about a year ago a new version was being made, but did not hear anymore about it. Last edited by James Kimbley; 20 Feb 2005 at 17:23. |

I pretty sure that the guy who does the commentary on the documentaries about F1's history on ESPN Classic sports is the same guy who announces the tracks on F1C!

That would be 'F1'! Rubbish name, great game! I'd like to see Super Off Road, Road Rash, Mercs, Altered Beast (for the comedy speech!) Revenge Of Shinobi, Desert/Jungle Strike and Golden Axe get re-releases. I still own them all on the MegaDrive, but if they were released again it would save me digging the damn thing out from the loft all the time! |

Altered Beast has aged badly, I was only playing that last year during my Mega Drive renaissance period!
That F1 game, I still have that, made by Domark I think. There was an Amiga version called "Vroom!" which was absolutely sensationally fun! |

Blades of Steel
The Nintendo hockey game that raised a Canadian generation. But they actually did remake this one for the X-Box.... I think... not sure if it's the same as the original though. Track and Field Another classic. There's an arcade in downtown Calgary with the original arcade cabinet version of this. A quarter is all you need. Bomberman Oh wow, I almost forgot one of the greatest games ever. The original top down version brought a tear to my eye. Last edited by Omega99; 23 Feb 2005 at 03:26. |

does anyone remember rock and roll racing on the mega drive or snes. it was a 3d isometric game where you could arm your vehicle and upgrade it. it's been re-released for the gba i think, but i'd like a full blown modern edition made, i could see it being a fantastic on-line game.
