So.. the brand already racing in GTs that had a VASC team apparently sign them up, despite a prominent local involvement with another VASC team...

Could that team be Albury based, and could the brand start with A and end in MG?

Nick Percat running around in a brand spanking CLA45 family truckster...

Correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation, but the evidence does fit the vaguebook post we got.

BJR are a solid operation, no reason I couldn't see them doing a credible GT program.

Another new team for Aus GT:http://www.speedcafe.com/2016/12/09/...uracan-aus-gt/

There's some very good operators on this team - let's hope that Mr McConville feels more comfortable in the General Manager role than in his last couple of roles where he's struggled.

Not a bad sweetener for 2017

"Australian GT will offer one of the biggest prizemoney funds in Australian motorsport as it looks to expand the category next season."

http://www.speedcafe.com/2016/12/12/...ize-fund-2017/

Especially for a club racing series - hey Mixer

Let me think for a minute, the racing series that is a rich old man's club is putting up some prize money because a couple of solid teams have threatened not to run sprint rounds next year because of the appalling driving standards...

$200k would not cover the damage done on the Saturday at Highlands.

Is that the rationale for the financial incentive?

On the contrary
Quote:
“For 2017 we will continue with the combined championship entry incentive but also add this enormous AGT Overall Competitor Award for all eligible combined championship competitors.

“The $200,000 cash prize pool is additional to the added investment in media and increased opportunities for manufacturer and team sponsors involvement in hospitality and event interaction.

“Being able to have the AGT teams as the premier category at most of our 2017 events gives us the flexibility to manage the events so we have the best outcome for the AGT teams.”

$200,000 prizemoney put up for people competing in a national championship.....yep that's definitely something worth finding a bad angle about....

So WRC is going with a live-streaming package courtesy of Red Bull TV, seems this is definitely the way forward to directly engage fans.

Its an interesting time, right now it seems there are four options for motorsport in as far as broadcasting is concerned:

- FTA TV
- Subscription or Pay TV
- Broadcasting direct to the internet
- No TV coverage at all

Probably different strokes for different categories, but internet broadcasting seems to be becoming more common.

I think at the end of the day a combination of all those elements (if available) are important as they have advantages and disadvantages attached.

The advent of live streaming has done wonders for niche sports.

dont forget delayed coverage on either of the first two at a more available time, which on fox can mean multiple repeats

I would have thought a series thats wants to "stand on its own feet" and is "not a support category" mightt have been higher.

Not as popular as some would suggest

I have no idea what your opinion is, and I doubt you have an idea on my opinion. And as far as maturing is concerned, I doubt I will.

You must have missed my subtly Pecky.

How much weight are you putting in an online poll that had Formula 3 from memory 4th and higher than the Dunlop Series?

Or do you agree with both suggestions?

Its the best we have and no one can vote twice (on the same computer)

so i am happy with the the voting

to be honest im not sure why a 2nd string series (like DVS) would be expected to rate higher, We already have the main game for that

Pecky do you realise Formula 3 has averaged 6 cars for the last 2 - 3 seasons and has now been dissolved into Formula A and it has been voted the 4th most popular category in Australia?

If you are happy this - then all the power to you.

With this I think Australian GT management will be thrilled with ranking 3rd and more than justifying the move to headlining events.
