Another good race weekend in SBK, but I wish the gap up to the factory Kawasaki and Ducati bikes was smaller.

Fantastic Superbike debut by Rinaldi on the Ducati; 8th in R1 and 7th in R2.

Very good debut and pretty good racing over the weekend. The headlines might mention familiar winners but that doesn't really tell the full story of the racing action. Sad to see Camier get injured like that. Get well soon Leon and of course, Eugene Laverty.

Just caught up with the Aragon races and what a great circuit it is although I couldn't spot too many spectators which considering the recent performance of Xavi Fores is somewhat of a surprise. Rea had to really fight for that first race win and what a superb battle in the second race with a deserved win for Chaz. As above, pretty impressive performance by Rinaldi and the Yamahas of VderM and Lowes are nearly there but not quite. What on earth is going on Sykes? appalling start in race 2 and way off the pace as well.

Yes, some great racing throughout and glad no one was hurt in that R1 incident. Rea and Davies deserved their wins and this season the competition between Rea and the rest is thankfully a lot closer

Rinaldi I think might be another Giugliano, or Fabrizio, fast on new tyres, but he faded amarmingly, just like those guys used to.

What a ding dong first race from Assen! Fantastic riding from the top 4 riders but Rea shows his class once again.

And what a convincing win for Sykes in race 2, the Yorkshire man seems to have found his mojo once again

I think I know what you're inferring but it's just great to see Sykes back on this sort of form. Where this spontaneous moment of brilliance came from I've no idea but everyone forgets just how quick Sykes was in the early development days of the Kawasaki before the arrival of Rea and all the ensuing changes which Tom couldn't get to grips with. Anyway the guy is just a complete joy in front of a camera, an interviewers dream. Sorry but I'm biased I know, I've always had a soft spot for the lad.

Yes, that was close throughout and I hope the form Sykes shows isn’t a one off

We just need Yamaha to find that last little bit of performance and it will be a right royal battle for the top 6 to 10 places in each race.
On a different note, I just saw a clip of Jake Gagne's crash, good lord! Poor fella. |

A couple of headlines ahead of Imola this weekend:
Laverty and Camier are returning from injury. Haslam is racing. Kenan is retiring after this weekend. |

What about Ana Carrasco in the Supersport 300 race? She completely destroyed the field!

No doubt about it, Jonathan Rea's on a another level despite Chaz riding his socks off on the Ducati there's just no stopping Rea. The guy is inch perfect and just doesn't make mistakes.

True, although Chaz seems the only one able to compete with him when Rea is in his element

Great to see Luke Mossey participating this weekend at Donington after that horrendous crash last year. It will be very interesting to see how he adapts to the WSBK class.

He has not done much in BSB so I doubt he will break into the top 10.

A little unfair I think, for a couple of years before that big accident at Thruxton he was always up there or thereabouts. The result sheets do not tell all of the story, I've watched him at several BSB races and he is very impressive on track. I assume the Pedercini team has sufficient faith in him to put him out at Donington. BTW for anyone attending, the new grandstand at Hollywood after Redgate is great viewing, you can see right across to Coppice but it is pretty exposed.

Mossey P11 on the first practice, not bad considering he hadn't sat on the bike till this morning. He's adopted his dad's old number 41 for the race.

Mossey a bit further down, probably because he’s not using TC this weekend
Great win by Van De Mark, it’s about time Yamaha won again and he did it in style |
