Didn't I say I agreed with Roebuck's comments? Didn't I also include his quoted sentence?
So what's the argument? JPM isn't really that good because he is deficeint in setting the car up and of course the fact the he doesn't channel his talent properly. Ah I'm so glad we got back to some proper discussions. |

But you're still implying a spin on Roebuck's comments that almost certainly wasn't intended.
IMHO Roebuck is not saying, "JPM isn't really that good because...", he's saying that with the talent and latent speed JPM has he'd be even better if he improved his ability to set the car up and (maybe) his attention to detail in so doing. Last edited by garcon; 16 May 2003 at 10:39. |

Well, considering that many around here consider him as no tallent at all, yet he still keeps pace and beats his teammate, one would assume that in that department Ralf is a demigod, and compensate his "lack of tallent". :confused: Didn't Edison say one that success means "10% inspiration and 90% perspiration"?

Sure not. But having both JPM and Ralfie 90% perspiration they should be the top drivers on that matter... of smell

His review of Montoya isnt a big deal. Roebuck has never actually just come out and bashed a driver, hes too analytical for that. At least he has faith in JPM.

Roebuck definately said he thinks Montoya is no worse than Schumacher, Raikkonen or anyone else,a nd could well be better. I know Peter doesn't live in England these days, but he seems out of practice in interpreting a PC sentance to see what its writer really means.
I'm not sure he's right. I think Monty has been the better of the two Williams drivers overall this year, but the car is dragging them down. On the one hand, he seems to be able to to a lot with a poor car, bt on the other hand his setup ability is lacking at the moment. Motivation seems to be an issue for him too. By the fundamentals of the car being okay I think Roebuck means the engine, gearbox and chassis. The problem is of course the aero package, which the return of Frank Dernie might solve. |
