Also Gasly changing lines really made it even closer, he could have stuck to the inside not swerved back as I think he would have been fine there, Hartley had seen him go to the inside that's why he swerved to go wider, so they both changed direction at the same time which made it worse. Not defending Hartley as it was 100% his fault he should have been right out of the way, and coming from WEC he should know better than to sit in the middle of the track. But really just one of those things where if this happened in most other series it wouldn't have been anywhere near as close. Brendon was more apologetic afterwards than just about any F1 driver in the last 68 years, so it wasn't on purpose. Gasly behaved like a right diva afterwards on the radio - he is your team mate that you crashed out in the last round Pierre, but he realised once out of the car that it was just an error from Brendon and he is your team mate, no need for a Perez/Ocon type situation. |

Too be fair to Gasly I expect his adrenaline levels were off the chart straight afterwards so whatever he said on the radio shouldn't be given much weight.

That was close between the Toro Rossos, we don't need to be reminded of what happened to Gilles Villeneuve, but I agree the blind corner probably had something to do with it
So Vettel takes it again. Kimi yet again close to taking pole, but this time he messed it up |

It is not the Race Director's job to act as judge and jury in real time on an incident, this leads to serious miscarriages of justice and the perception of manipulation. |

It was, but he was very apologetic anyway. Never seen a racing driver say sorry that much.
And lol wind. Good one Max. Next up: the sun was in my eyes. |

The considered verdict may have found it justifiable and not subject to a penalty or penalties. The Race Director though should not be allowed to sweep an incident of this magnitude under the carpet with a half cocked decision pulled from his nether regions. |

wnut is right, it does kinda highlight a flaw in the system. We have stewards, but they're only allowed an opinion if the race director is of the opinion that they are allowed an opinion.

Initially a clean start but all sorts of bits of carbonfibre flying off, as the cars entered turn 2.
First FCY as Ocon and Raikkonen make contact. Looks like someone ran into Alonso. |

Back to green flag and the two RBs almost collected each other.

And this is why Ferrari and Merc have perfect driver line ups.
And there is no reason to sign Ricciardo away (Ricciardo is talented, but you cannot have two #1 drivers) Ricciardo-Vettel or Ricciardo-Hamilton? ---just never going to work |

Grosjean stuffs it in into the wall under the yellow. This could end under yellow.

Grosjean what a tool....
If this finished under yellow, we were robbed on a scintillating finish... |

Two moves, as usual the little **** is making the mistakes
Yes DR was coming fast, but he moved twice, and he also hit him earlier. Needs dropping for a race. |

Verstappen is just being ridiculous out there, he's asking to be crashed.
Still, in the crash that eventually did it, Ricciardo looks pretty stupid ramming someone from 100% behind. Grosjean.... wtf you doing? And then tries to blame Ericsson who's nowhere near him haha. |
