DL said this during his Spa commentry, it did seem a tad strange! I still find it hard to understand the A.C.O's thought process (if any)! As we all know there are similar gripes every year.

I think it was a mistake by David...
Ignoring the Saleen/LNT situation, I know some teams in order to get places run a 12 month beauty contest with the ACO, buying lunches/presentations etc to get an entry. I presume given how strapped for cash Zytek were last year they didn't bother with this process and then when the Danish cash appeared at the last minute it was too late.... |

The ACO are riding a hell of a lot on the race's reputation. Surely they should be looking at the quality of the race rather than holding grudges? What happens if one year half the grid ends up in an LNT/Saleen situation? We'd get a grid full of old cars like WR and Porsche GT2's, and the race will go right down the toilet.
The ACO need to remember a race is only as good as it's competitors - deny a place to those most likely to make the race worthwhile (to the fans, particularly), and you'll have a disaster, particularly if we only see the same cars every year and anyone with a new machine gets snubbed. |

I find it very odd that, a year after the fiasco where every reserve had a crack at the race and the ACO had to add supplementary reserves, and the ACO expands the reserve list to 8, that they'd still be making selections that were tenuous.
What due diligence is being performed here???? TNB, you're right - despite the supposed health of ACO-spec racing in Europe, it's apparent they can't afford to be playing grudge-footsie when it comes to the entry list. |

I doubt the ACO will EVER see it that way... they're pretty confident about the enduring appeal of the race... it's their football, their pitch, their rules. If you don't like them, go play somewhere else.

sorry about being late, but i thought the problem with the saleen was that for the gt categories, u have to be making a certine amount of cars in a year, and in 2001 i think, the first year (only year) they raced there was because Saleen said they had made enough cars to meat the standard, then it turns out they hadnt been meating that standard, so the car wasnt homologated. i think this is what happend

DSC is not normally wrong, but does this mean a few withdrawels and the reserve list being used or is it more fundamental than that taking into account the results from Spa?

If the rumour was "AT Spa" as stated, I'd imagine it's the former... tough for the rumours to already be taking in account of the Spa result at the Spa weekend...
There will be some issue of reserves not taking up their places too... if you were down the back end of that list of 8 would you have sent the extra Euro 27,000 to ensure you stayed on the list? (refundable, yes, but still a big find for a team trying to run a season)?? I'm sure some of the reserves won't have bothered... |

Le Mans withdrawels - one car on the reserve list
Just got an updated entry list (will put it online in a minute) and found strangely enough there is only one car left on the reserve list: Dutch Spyker Squadron.
Also ACEMCO have officialy withdrawn their entry. Did anyone see this comming? |

Brilliant !!! LMP2 no withdrawls yet. Can't see that staying the same. Also, Raymond Narac Porsche was below Labre, RFH and GPC Ferrari 360 on reserve list. Bet those guys are sick now. Or are they in, we just aren't being told. By the way, sorry to PlanetLemans.com, as i didn't include the link in my previous post. Sorry guys, i will slap my own wrist.

so larbre, rfh, gpc sport, gnm saleen and thierry perrier didn't leave a deposit?
the saleen would have been the new current first reserve if it had. right? |

GN Saleen would now be first reserve i assume, had they deposited. And from what Graham says, they would have got in. I am more suprised about Labre, and RFH though. They were high on the list anyway, 1 & 2 after T2M got in.

Our friends from across the pond will be devestated (if they didn't already know!) by the Acemco withdrawal. Great shame!

This is getting sillier every year. Why not just hold a qualifying session...

Just had a thought. If Graham says there is more to come, that means that Spyker will have 2 cars in. No Black Rocket, Lister or LNT TVR's , but TWO spykers. Deary me.
