Anyone had any paperwork through on this, seeing as the meeting starts next Friday??????? Just checking first before contacting the appropriate persons.

Roy, the instructions say that those of us in the pit-lane have to get a bus from near sign-on. Can we leave cars in the car park at sign-on, during the day?

Just a heads-up for those of you travelling to Silverstone at sign-on time, found on a local news site :-
Road users will benefit from safer driving conditions during the night and in wet conditions as a result of forthcoming road markings and stud renewals on the M1 between junctions 15 and 16 near Northampton. Work will start on Monday 5 September and is due to be completed on Sunday 18 September. All activity will take place overnight to minimise disruption for road users. Traffic management will feature a 50mph speed limit and lane closures. There will be closures of the junction 15 and 15A northbound entry and exit, and the junction 16 northbound entry slip roads with signed diversion routes in place. Overnight closures will operate at various times: * Monday to Thursday 8:00pm - 05:00am * Thursday 8:00pm - 06:00am (Friday) * Friday 10:00pm - 08:00am (Saturday) * Saturday 7:00pm - 10:00am (Sunday) * Sunday 10:00pm - 05:00am (Monday) Highways Agency project manager, Mark Braithwaite said: "This scheme is to renew road markings and studs along a four mile stretch of the M1 in Northamptonshire, which will improve the safety of the carriageway for road users. All work has been scheduled to take place outside of peak hours, although we would still advise motorists to plan their journeys accordingly." For more information, motorists can contact the Highways Agency Information Line on 0300 123 5000. Note that this runs through to the next weekend too, for those coming to the CSCC. I suspect that the A5 will be carrying a bit more traffic as a result? |

Do not forget that Allan McNish is the guest speaker for a marshals social evening on Thursday evening in The White Horse in Silverstone village. Start at 8pm and all marshals are welcome.

For those that have done this event. Which of the two days are the more interesting to do, Saturday or Sunday? Am undecided which day to do.

If you want to watch 5-6 hours non-stop racing, then it has to be Sunday. If you prefer a bit more variety, then Saturday (but you then get the dire speed race - 90mins of half a dozen cars droning round for ever). Friday is my preferred, but am doing all 3 days http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26117606/Timetable%20draft%20-%20Autosport%206%20hours%20of%20Silverstone.xls |

I would definately say Sunday. Bear in mind that it is a six hour race, or thereabouts, there is a lot of time taken for the build up and very little else, but it is well worth it.

Looks like the weather is going to ease for the weekend and we ought to have a good few days of dry racing
Bet it will still be windy though, this is Silverstone afterall!! Anyone know if we get 'All Access' passes like we did at GT1? |

Looking forward to my first of two visits to marshal at Silverstone, an interesting weekend in store I feel and a duty I have had the pleasure of only once before, thanks Roy!
Noted with interest the roadworks, looks like it shouldn't affect me as I'm coming south, but thanks all the same! A 4:30 start on Saturday is going to hurt a bit but well worth the effort for my Le Mans fix this year! |

If not will i be able to go and pick one up from somewhere Friday? As I said sorry if its a silly question, its my first trip to silverstone... |

Most of the guys on the front gate are regulars and understand the vagaries of marshalling tickets / passes and use common sense. Those arriving that early tend to be in probans or nomex anyway! Straight over the bridge if they'll let you, else left and park up at copse and walk up through the tunnel is the likely options. If all else fails, then wait on the approach road and follow the next car full of orange Welcome to my local - hope it's the first of many visits. Matt - flag post 1 is opposite the new pits / wing building. If lost, then look for a certain Japanese F1 driver and ask him where he crashed in practice |

The posts were re-numbered at the start of this season, to coincide with the opening of the new pits. New numbers are here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?cli...f9943e3a81770f |
